Top Ten Blogs of Pakistan

A few days back I received an e-mail from Shirazi Sb, a regular and should I say one of the early adopters of the blogging world from Pakistan. The e-mail was addressed to many individuals (mainly Pakistani bloggers) and was an invitation to send the top blog posts and blogs (as per everyone's judgement) to formulate a list of top ten blogs of Pakistan.

I have just come across this post on Shirazi Sb's blog Light Within, which lists the outcome of the e-mail as a first draft by Dr. Farrukh Malik, author of another blog with the name of Silence.

The first draft includes all the major blogs from Pakistani origin including Teeth Mastro, Pakistaniat and Chowrangi to name a few, and is a great effort to start with.

Note that there are more than 7,000 blogs originating from Pakistan and its not easy to track and verify them all to come up with the best ten and the exercise undertaken by Dr. Farrukh is indeed a commendable job and must be appreciated.

It felt good to see buzzVines also making it to the list of the top ten, considering it's still in its infancy stage with only March, 2007 to be its birth Month.

Let's now see where this all end up when the final results are going to be announced by the end of December this year. It will be a good account of how blogging world is shaping up in Pakistan.

This is how these ten blogs are ranked as per Dr. Farrukh Malik.

  1. Teeth Maestro
  2. Pakistaniat
  3. Empty
  4. Light Within
  5. Chowrangi
  6. buzzVines
  7. Thatta Kedona
  8. The Pakistani Spectator
  9. The Pakistan Blog policy
  10. Creative Pakistan

The third rank is missing, will hopefully be added soon by Dr. Farrukh. Details with complete list can also be seen here.

Yes, I have seen that list, and its really a commendable job by the Dr. I agree on all the names, but in my opinion, The Pakistani Spectator should come first, then Chowrangi, then Pakistaniast, buzz vines, and then the rest in any order.

regards

Pakistani Spectator does not even has its own domain on what grounds you are nominating it ?

Why doesn't buzzvines team install a Buzzvines survey module and do a 'top blog of Pakistan' survey and count the votes...

Buzz Vines Admins: I am new to Buzzvines, and in the last some days I have read many buzzez and the comments. I feel that smug and arrogant people like albatros are there to just let out their frustration. Just pick up his comments on average from the discussion, and you would come to realize that he/she is doing nothing but to criticize the people aimlessly, without any clue and just out of morbid attitude.

Its hard for serious, earnest, willing and new visitors like me to suffer through people like him.

Albatros: Though I dont like to discuss with you, but let me tell you that the blog Lightwithin, which is running this series, hasnt also got its own domain. So before commenting, you should read and understand more.

Content is the King, and blogs like TPS, Chowrangi, LightWithin, and myriad others doing a grand job.

This is lame! i have the right to express my self, and if my expression goes agains your opinions then u would use words like (smug and arrogant people like albatros ) thus taking things personal and attacking directly back. So this makes me think if TPS is your blog and you want to promote it and become a self claimed top bloger. (ouch)

Secondly i dont know who made the list, on what grounds it was made and what is the critaria for it? I know there is lack of democracy in this country but if you want to dictator the list and Make TPS the top blog go ahead, make it but would it be worth an achivement?

Amna

With due respect, I would tend to disagree with you here. The idea is to let everyone come out with what he has to say and then in the light of all the substance, make your own judgement, in favour or against any discussion. You cannot rule out anyone on the premise that he or she is typical of this. Albatros has his own view point and has a right to veto any statement just like yourself.

As for this particular comment, I totally agree with you that its absolutely irrelevant if the domain is independent or an offshoot of some other domain. What matters is how much substance it produces and what sort of audience it captures.

Having said that, I can agree to your views about Chowrangi, Light Within and Pakistaniat, but TPS, I guess they are doing a great job on their interviews series more than raising issues or creating awareness in general. What say you...

Razorfish

My information comes from Chowrangi, TPS and ATP, and I believe them the premier blogs of Pakistan. TPS's content is not lesser than anyone, and they are candid in real sense. I like their fresh, candid and unique angle. Interviews are just one color of their rainbow, I reckon. I highly recommend them.

 regards.
