Thank you Daddy for shopping.

Thank you Daddy for shopping.

Saw this billboard on my way to office today and thought if this sort of marketing is ethical. So here I am going to put this question across to all of you. Let's have your views on it.

It's an HSBC bank's billboard where they are promoting their credit-card. I was driving, so could not take the picture properly and so it is not so clear what is written, but I'll put it down here for your reference. It says...

Thank you daddy ... for shopping!

After all, it's for my education.

HSBC Credit Card: ............

Couldn't catch the last line properly, will try to get the picture from a better angle again and will upload it here.

So the question is, is it ethical to use such sensitive issues for promoting the use of credit-card. And if yes, then what is going to be the end of all this. If it's a success and people do start opting-in for HSBC Credit Card, the competitors would soon come out with an even better offer, which can be anything else.

So what's your take on it? Is it OK or does the ethical thing has any role to play in our advertising.

I saw that in todays paper..It looks pity odd

Yes! these kind of bill boards are aimed at PUPPIES (That Paki-Yuppies) The Gora gangs are notorious for exploiting our "Ingleese speaking" kids. Another fact that is not well known is that Citi Bank is banned from operating in Japan and Saudi Arabia. Can you comprehend this? - the Saudis thinks they exploit them. AND SHAUKAT AZIZ FACILITATED THEIR ENTRY BACK INTO PAKISTAN.

excuse me democratically elected PM

Emotional Blackmail, I'd say!

They are using ‘emotional techniques’ to get the money transfered from parents pockets
to the bank accounts.

Nothing wrong here. They are not FORCING anyone to get a citi card, just coercing them.

but stupid sensitive kids like me would probably feel despondent n miserable...thinking on the lines...probably my dad doesn't love me enough..that is why i m going to this stupid college,while my cousin has gone to UK...

the position of such daddy's who do not "shop" might weaken..their kids might consider them irresponsible or sth....

 {depend on me to make a mountain out of a molehill :) }

Wellcome back

i m not fully back yet :) my semester finalz commence on 9th june...i m completely submerged in presentations, projects,quizzes :(

good luck!

  Its not ethical at all to use such sensitive issues for making money and advertising credit cards they are playing with emotions of public just to sell there products and make money.

            How far these people can go to make money?

                              SHAMEFUL.

@amer sarfraz

          Becare ful sir never start photography while driving the car its against the traffic rules and also dangerous for you.

Well this is not the first of its kind. There are many ads that exploit kids in order to manipulate parents. Well I do agree that such kind of advertising is not ethical but many companies are trying to catch fish by using these vehicles.

@AmerI really appreciate your love for blogging, catching up live stories. Wow. “Chota billboard bari baat”
