I have come across a lot of ridiculous statements about Pakistan but
one that tops all is that "What Pakistan needs now is the support of
all the Pakistanis". And more than ever, we see army personnel on TV
making this statement, which makes it even more ridiculous.
I beg to differ. Pakistan does not need the support of all Pakistani's.
Pakistan has a million strong, parasitic army and it is this army which
needs to earn its keep for once and which needs to clear the mess that
IT (without the support of the Pakistani people, mind you) created. And
it did this by meddling in the affairs of Pakistan (and other
countries) for which it had no right nor mandate.
They pillaged the nation and appointed generals and other partners in
their heinous crimes to every lucrative post from the chairman of PCB
(what the heck does the army know about cricket) to the president of
Pakistan.
Pakistani's are dying BECAUSE of the choices that the Pakistani army
UNILATERALLY made. It was not the civilians who supported the Taliban
and other extremists financially, logistically and by helping them in
sowing seeds of fundamentalism in Pakistan. It was, if you remember,
the civilians, whenever they were given the chance, who fought against
these extremists and who walked towards India with open arms only to
have the army stab the Indians in the back by invading Kargil. Why?
Simply because peace with India means an end to the need of an all
powerful Pakistani army and hence an end to the pillaging of the
national treasury (or what's left of it)
The people of Pakistan expect the army to clear up this mess which they
have created and are in no mood of "supporting" this corrupt
institution anymore.
Let the army for once do its goddamn job instead of prolonging its current parasitic existence and pretending to be the savior.
