well it is long journey of about more than 1500 km. so first of all you must consider the weather condition. as you will cross the different land condition in your journey.
road is very smooth from karachi to sadiq-abad specialy when u will moving 4m karachi to isb. Highway is smooth and secure. and moterway police petrol there to assist in any problem.
after sadiqabad many short cuts available to reach isb. but i will suggest u not to leave highway if u r not familiar with the short cuts. caz on short cut it might be possible that other facilitits like CNG stations and auto workshop may not available.
Be sure that CNG stations are avilable from sukkar to sadiqabad. caz about 2-3 year ago their availability was very limited in these areas.
it is much important that u must plan a stay of about 4-5 hours in ur journey. caz in such a hot weather condition ur journey will become so exhausted. so paln ur stay near rahim yar khan or bahawalpur. From Rahim Yar Khan to Bahawalpur road condition might disturb u but after Bahawal Pur agian Highway is very smooth.
It is again my suggestion that donot travel in night across the rural areas of sindh specialy a town comes named MORO near Haiderabad and areas of district sukkur and Ghotki. You can travel in night across th punjab areas but try to not leave highway.
as weather is too hot in plain areas of Pakistan as well as in Bahawalpur division and multan division so keep a proper stock of water with you caz you have family with u.
ummmmmmmmmmm well good luck for ur journey.
have a nice journey.
I have not been on a road trip.. but I have been planning to do so for the past 1 year! from karachi to Peshawar and back... my friends have done so I can tell you this..
Leave as early poassible.. before 5 am! I do not know whether you plan on sight seeing but if you are heading to your home somewhere then you can reach Bahawalpur in a 12 hour max drive straight. CNG fuelling stations are quite a lot so no problems on that front.
You can spend the night in Bahawalpur and then leave next morning for Isd... driving all the way to Isloo is not advisable.. you can but you should not. Bahawalpur is around 850 km. Bahawalpur to Isd is around 750 km... judge for yourself..
For a detailed sight seeing trip.. check out the following. Its a trip from Karachi to Torkham by road.

"No leakage but water level decreases considerably"
So where the heck does it go then?! straighten this thing out or it might give you probelms. Keep water with you for emergency. No AC too in this condition! but it'll be difficult without AC.. have it checked thoroughly.. just keep a spare fan belt.
Good luck!
@ PostMan...
The weblink you have provided is really superb. Full of useful information and equipped with even little details of the journey.
Appriciated, good job.
'sherwani74' must read thru before leaving Karachi.
AOA,
This car's of yours seems to be in a good condition. Few years back I went to Islamabad by road on my willys jeep in June...which had a fabric top without doors and was a left hand drive.....
To be short i ll tell you about the essentials....
1) There should be no oil leakage from the engine and gear box.....also make that the oil level in gear box is full.......change oil and oil filter before you start your journey......check for all oil leakages.......you should carry spare oil filter(new) and 3-4 liters of engine oil.........Always remember that oil should be of same brand always....
2) check for the water leakages...........take your car to the petrol pump to the carsh wash people....ask them to open the the drain bolt.....which is below the radiator and ask them to flush the entire radiator.....first tell them to put water from above.....the water will circultae in the radiator and in the entire engine......pour a sealed can of coolant....dont buy coolant in plastic bottles...the green ones..........
change both the hose pipes and their clips...............also carry spare hose pipes....
3) The battery should be in a good condition....because if you are driving on the highway and your car stops......then it will not pick up the self immediately.....and then you have to wait........and then push the car.....its wise to but a new battery.....also check the chariging system of your car............
4)Tyres should be in good condition too........put good tyres in front and weaker ones behind......spare should be in a good condition...also keep two extra tubes...
TO BE CONTINUED....................
BOSS IS CALLING..........................................
Looking at the present day security situation (abductions etc included), do not risk your and your families life by travelling by road. Just take a flight from Karachi to Islamabad.
Take Care
Dr.Irfan Zafar
Since this is really a long journey as ‘shaiby’ has suggested, you have to be very careful.
First thing first: Safety & Security
Well, that’s all for the time being. I’ll be back definitely if something important comes up. Wish you and your family all the best. Take good care of yourselves. Be calm & drive carefully, don’t rush.
Remember alway “Better late than never!”
Comments from users are appreciated. Keep the spirit up. Happy to see car enthusiasts here.
My suggestion: Take a cart! ;)
Good God, why are you even contemplating such a long journey by car? Why don't you go by daewoo or by air?
I'd love to go by bicycle I swear... a nice company would do *wink*!
I would seriously advise you not to go ahead with this trip specially in this hot weather....can't you postpone it for a few months...say the end of October...?
Kalsoom a jaigi PostMan. :)
As a Limited Company? :p
Why do I love kalsoom so much?!
For that you should consult West Coast Eagle or AG or Taimur, the last for a change! Really wait till AG gets this.
khabardar jo pitwaya kisi k hathon! mein khud he se maar kha loon ga! hunh! :p
Jo dar gya woh mar gya. :)
Jo pit gaya wo phir ghar gaya... :p
Sherwani sb.. car yaad kerwa di..!
my father had a cream coloured one... I started my driving on it..! No I guess I started that on Corolla 74.. anyways.. nice car... I like its sound.. all Sunnys before 82's have this sound I guess... and man it runs! really...
you should carry spare oil filter(new) and 3-4 liters of engine oil.........
also keep two extra tubes...
spare Engine & Gear Oil if possible. There should be no oil leakage.
haha! sorry guys.. reminds me of my father.. he had placed an alternator with spare fan and timing belts in car's trunk. When one of my fathers friend asked him as to why he has done this.. my father said that 'in case of emergency'.. to which his friend replied.. "keep an engine too!"
The thing is.. the poor guy will only have car items in his trunk and no luggage of his! Yes things 'can' go wrong.. hopefully they won't inshallah :) Frankly, longer journeys are 'better' for a car! its more burdensome driving in intra city traffic with more idling and heat! The road is much better than the intra city roads. The only thing I'd say required are good tyres.. and next trust in God :p
In my point of view 'hasan' has raised important points. Yes, you are right that there would be more 'Spare/Supplies' in the trunk, than the family's lugage! I think they can get things settled down easily as none of the stuff is volumatically huge.
I don't deny any of what hasan has said... Look. You know you are going on a long journey so you'll need a car that is in good condition! If not then you are only inviting trouble.. and especially if you are going with a family. You 'might' not want all these spare things if you know that your car is well maintained.
The primary concern should be security while travelling and fatigue. No one should travel in Sindh during night.. you'll get that advice from everyone. Its dangerous. Then fatigue.. nobody should drive continuously.. and if more than 1 driver.. even better.
Well sherwani from this exchange, you hopefully would also have learnt of the need to stay on track. :)
carry a licensed pistol with u as well...just in case the MQM ghundas come ur way....i m really concerned abt the safety of ur little girl.....
avoid policemen too....don't ask them for directions...they might cost u the very money u saved by avoiding air travel :)
sHERWANI BHAI...
Most of the "consultants" here are those who never travelled to ISB by road....
You should adopt the following rute
1-KHI to Sadiq Abad road is good and the journy should be in the day time..you cant take risk with your family while crossing interior sindh in night...Leave karachi around morning and be in punjab before sun set.
2-From sadiq abad you have two options:
-from KLP (karachi lahore peshawar road)
-road through rahim yar khan, khanpur ,liaqat pur
Select the 1st option: Be on KLP road , NHA police will be there to help you out in case of any emergency...CNG and other feuls are available.
3-From bahwalpur catch the bypass road, dont go in city...at river bank there is HUMAIRA HOTEL you can have a stay there...Or you can have a nice dinner at TAJ hotel Lodhran
4-Select lodhran By pass and be on Multan road as GT road khanewal is not good.
5-go to multan and spend night there...in morning select the rute KABIRWALA _JHANG_PINDI BHATTIA MOTORWAY...This rute will save your 4 hours which you will spend if gone through lahore
6-from pindi bhattian you will be on motorway....
With this plan you will cross the deangerous areas in day and your journy will be short..
Miaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanjeeeeeeeeeeeeeee is back. :))
Sherwani bhai:
With family i dont think you will be able to arrive the same day in multan...So have a stay at rahim yar khan or bahwalpur...If you want to stay in RYKHAN or BWP let me know so i can advise you suitable hotels...
IOLA :)
Mujhy pata hee nahi tha keh mujhy khoja ja raaha hai :)
I just came back from rahim yar khan......pata hota to sherwani family ko sath hee lay ata
MY COMMENT HAS BEEN FLAGGED AS POTENTIAL SPAM
LEH DUS......
Long silence from Sherwani.
May be he has already left for the expedition OR has changed his plan and is just enjoying the enthusiasm of the people on this forum !
Brother Sherwani ..................... where are you ??
hahahah....Amer Bhai. it seems "mudai sust gawah chust"
Dear All
Its not Mudai sust gawah chust.. Infact I was away for few days due to death of my old grandma. I am back. I am extremely thankful for all the folks who spared time and took pain to offer such valuable information and tips.
Regarding rescheduling my trip. It wont be possible as i have already applied for leave and it also matches with my daughter school schedule.
I will most probably visit my mechanic tomorrow or day after tomorow for evaluation and will come up what he has suggested.
Once again thanks for participation. Looking for more tips and inputs.
can someone guide me about the tracks an hotels in bahawalpur
Mian Jee and Shaiby are your best shot on this one.
Ok Mianjee.. time has arrived. I have to go to Peshawar from Karachi!
A night at Bahawalpur.. next morning.. follow the usual Bwlpur-multan-khanewal-lahore route?
Q- Is the Multab by-pass of Bwlpur-khanewal worthy to drive?
Q- Can I go from Multan to Faisalbad (motorway)? Is the road good?
yupeeee, i will get u arrested at Islamabad.....what was the name again??? F.. Fa.. Fazal-ul-Haq, Rright ? :P (jotting down details) n u wear glasses, n would be coming frm Karachi, heading to peshawar, age 34,(sharpening the pencil) beanpole personality, a touch of grey at the temples, protruding teeth n high-pitched voice....there, i got it....:P
.. and you forgot.. one shining gold tooth in front :p
postman: dont go to khanewal ...from BWP go to multan. then from Multan take KABIRWALA JHANG ROUTE....from Jhang you will go to PINDI BHATIAN and then be on MOTOR WAY..it is a shortcut and it will save yoru 4 hours(journy through Lahore is very long)
From mutlan to Faislabad is same route of Kabir wala...There you will come two choices..One to Faislabad and 2nd to Jhang directly
in BWP you may stay at either in HUMAIRA HOTEL or DREAMS IN...both are on river sutluj side...very economical...If you ahev family with you , you would be bound to stay at rahim yar khan because you will be very much tired. In rahim yar khan you can stay at FARAN HOTEL near RAHIM YAR KHAN BY PASS. if feel any trouble in reservation, please contact me i will arrange it....what the date of your journy? if i will eb at home i can facilitate you at BWP
Thanx alot Mianjee.. I think I'll manage :) Though I'll be staying teh night at Bahawalpur Inshallah... First week of December.
So its Multan, then Kabirwala and then Jhang and Faisalabad? What does this mean "From mutlan to Faislabad is same route of Kabir wala...There you will
come two choices..One to Faislabad and 2nd to Jhang directly"?
Road Ok? single road?
DONT ADOPT KABEERWALA ROUTE AS YOU NEVER GONE THROUGH THIS ROUTE , YOU WILL BE LOST AND LATERS YOU WILL ABUSE ME
MY SUUGESTION OT REMAIN AT MAIN LAHORE ROUTE...FROM BWP TAKE MULTAN ROUTE BECAUSE ROAD FROM KAHNEWAL IS NOT GOOD, FROM MULTAN TAKE LAHORE ROUET AND AFTER LAHORE GO THROUGH MOTORWAY
CONCLUSION:
1- karachi to BWP is a 12 hours drive..you should set to travel early morning then you will reach BWP at 6 PM
2-when you will enter in punjab from sadiq abad, select KLP(karachi lahore peshawar road) because it is a good road with NHA help , moreove ryou will be able to avoid smaller cities like Khanpur , liaqat pur etc
3-dont go in BWP city , take bypass and on the bank of river satluj you can check in in Humaira Hotel or Dreams Inn.
2nd day:
*Set to travel early morning and select multan road from lodhran, multan is 85 KMs from BWP...From Multan go to Lahore because you will be lost on kabir wala road...
oh ho!
but there is a saving of 6 hours you said right? Is the Kabirwala route difficult? too many diversions?
you may save time but as you are not well aware about the route so may be it will waste your time in again and again asking from the local people. 2nd thing is about that route, it is a desserted route where you cant find help for your old vehical(if you are goign to use same)
From BWP to ISB ,through LHE, you may arrive in 10 hours which is not a big deal but after arriving at ISb you must sit on a pillow for 1 day or keep bottle of HOT water under bumpy :)
postman: if vehical is in good condition and you have a temperament to ask people for the way then kabir wala route is not bad....it is time saving..road is oK...
Ok at least tell me the route from Multan to Faisalabad - city by city. At least I can think about it :) CNG available on this route?
i just consulted my cousin who freuqently travels between Faislabad and multan , he also not recommending this route. CNG is not very frequently available other than highways
ROUTE TO PINDI BHATIANMOTORWAY :
multan to khanewal---left turn from nestle plant -----kabeer wala----abdul hakeem------shor koat---------jhang and then on motorway from pindi bhattian
(note that shor kot to jhang road is in real bad situation, very difficult for cars)
ROUTE TO FAISLABAD
multan to khanewal----left turn from nestle plant----kabeer wala----abdul hakeem---peer mahal-----rujhana-----faislabad
(CNG shortage )
So better to stay at main route(MULTAN to LHE)
bwp----MULTAN VIA LODHRAN-----MULTAN TO KHANEWAL----KHANEWAL TO MIAN CHUNNO---CHEECHA WATNI---SAHIWAL----OKARA----PATTOKI----BHAI PHERO---LAHORE
CNG available...NHA emergency service available...all mentioned cities have bypasses so it is time saving now, as well
take my cell number and when lost, make a call to me
thanks a lot mianjee. Appreciate that :)
(noting on clipboard) first week of december....time bhi bata he tho
you plan to nab me through police in BHWP or Isloo?
kyun bata'on? waisay i have islamabad in mind....ye batao huliya kitna accurate tyar kiya hai main ne??? :P
