Pretty Embarrassing
submitted 1 month 25 days 18 hours ago by: KKT : 86 commentsWho put this guy in charge?
forget the country, he can't even control himself :)
Pakistan's recently-elected president, Asif Ali Zardari, entered the
room seconds later. Palin rose to shake his hand, saying she was
“honored” to meet him.
Zardari then called her "gorgeous" and said: "Now I know why the whole of America is crazy about you."
"You are so nice," Palin said, smiling. "Thank you."
A handler from Zardari's entourage then told the two politicians to keep shaking hands for the cameras.
"If he's insisting, I might hug," Zardari said. Palin smiled politely.

Nothing wrong here. He knows his way around women. Are you jealous? ;-)

LOL, such pickup lines belong in a bar or club not the halls of the UN and especially not from a head of state to a vice presidential hopeful
You don't know Sarah Palin!!!
& Zaradari is justified to feel hor&#..y. Poor bugger is on his own now.;p

Earlier we had Shaukat Aziz who was trying to impress Condi... man... what type of leaders do we have
Why blame leaders when we are also same?

Excuse me? you may be like him. count me out bro.
not anymore. Gone are those glorious days ;-P

even in the darker days... count me out
Lamentations, ranting against women in another post.....
Babar's marriage is definitely on the rocks
Hang in there my friend, hang in there
At the end of some movies they say "Happily married ever after". This can be held true for most marriages actually
According to this theory one does live a HAPPY life but this life is hardly anything more than an "EVER AFTER".
Do you see the irony?

KKT.. you dont have to sound like Dr. Shahdi Masood and his End of Days documentary...
This is funny. Could be in the real life Zardari site as a joke.
My guess is that Benazir might have received such comments frm some american duing her tours...leaving a seething Zardari in the wake...so, now, when he finally got the chance, he attempted to level the score....(pretty weak theory..but wadairaaz are like that..mean grudge-holders)
Not in this case Pinky as this seems more like a case of "Tharkiness".

oh is it a universal terminology?? i thought my circle of friends invented this word..."thharkey"......
More universal than universe ;-)

Guys, let Zardari enjoy the glorious days of his presidency. He does not know how long he will be able to hold. why get jealous? I thought getting jealous was womens's turf, what the heck is wrong with you guys?
The news is catching fire across Pakistan. Worst is that India has picked up the news and is telecasting on their national television since morning, mocking us on our face for what level of political maturity and dignity we have at our top level.
Feel so ashamed of having such a monkey heading our nation. God halp us.
Welcome Back AngryYoungMan!!! haven't seen you in a while..
That is very much expected of him. He can't help his womanizing skills. It is a shame. This is just a begining.
AngryYoungMan is getting really angry now ;-)

Our innocent people are dying and our President is busy in womanizing.
We are a nation of extremely grumpy people. What will it take to make us happy? First we did not like dictatorship and suddenly when democracy did not resulted the way we personally would have preferred, we don't like democracy too.
Plant a tree
who on earth is discussing democracy?
I don't see any difference between the way people were responding to Musharraf and now to Zardari.
Plant a tree
Zardari is a retard! Those certificates of Mental illness were no joke!
One Indian news channel reports as 'Pakistan's President goes out of his mind'.
Zardari smiles like a cheap clown
when was the last time we, Pakistanis, were in the news for the right reasons....does anyone remember??? i can only recall one news...the rescue of some italian mountaineers by Pak army...it was 2007, i guess,,,,,,,plz do share other such news with me to soothe my wounded pride..plzzzzzzzz
nothing can soothe our wounds dear
Don't you think we are growing into a nation of paranoids. I don't see how Zardari's complement to Palen has become an embarrassment. People in Europe and US complement each other all the time & this does not mean anything more then general courtesy.
One of my cousin went crazy excited when he visited UK and pretty lady at airport counter greeted him saying "Hello Love". Now this is the most common way how people greet each other in UK, but for a poor Pakistani visiting UK for first time it was a very pleasant shock. Poor bugger continue blabbing about pretty "Gorian" falling in love with him.
Plant a tree
No Babar, this is not general courtesy. One can be courteous in other ways too. This was just Zardari's icebreaker. :)
In any case, why are we growing so paranoid? When Galani could not do well, we complained & now Zardari is doing too well, we are still complaining. We complain on anything and everything.
And not just this, there are so many other examples. Do you see what I am trying to say here? Are we a nation of whiners?
Plant a tree
No just buzzviners. :)
not every female politician is a kashmala tariq. sarah palin hasnt got that image that another male politician could compliment her baeuty. it can backfire for both. maybe a younger hillary would be good.
but i must say that no matter how formal and professional the setting, how mature the people, if you compliment a woman on her beauty she will listen to him and will be moved.
but its not a big deal actually. i hear the indians are mocking zardari on their news channels on this but its probably bcos they cannot imagine their own PM manmohan singh being chummy with a female politician !! i mean lets face it. if nawaz sharif or gilani did it it would have been a disaster and probably taken as offensive.
so its not what is being said. its who is saying it that also matters and zardari can get away with it. only the subject was probably not approriate.
"People in Europe and US complement each other all the time & this does not mean anything more then general courtesy"
I live in the US and saying what Zardari said to Palin to one of my co-workers could be construed as sexual harrassment and land me in a load of trouble so don't make assumptions :)
Zardari came in the capacity of the president of Pakistan and had just finished giving a speech peppered with "My wife Mohtarma Bhutto.." (who in the UN gives a flying rats ass or understands the word Mohtarma is besides the point ) and for him to then sound like a cheesy, sex depraved school boy is downright embarrassing for anyone calling him/herself a Pakistani
KKT: "I live in the US and saying what Zardari said to Palin to one of my
co-workers could be construed as sexual harrassment and land me in a
load of trouble so don't make assumptions"
No assumptions sir, my experience in UK and now in Australia is quite different from yours in US. I endorse Mr. PSingh: "If nawaz sharif or gilani did it it would have been a disaster and probably taken as offensive. So its not what is being said. its who is saying it .... Zardari can get away with it"
On a lighter note, you need to practice your flirtation skills/pickup lines KKT;-)

KKT
remember dear, its only sexual harassment when a man is undateable.
coming from the heart?
But he's right........ truth always hurts.
KKT is absolutely right...plus we have already covered the point that its about perception (remember that Yankee n Paki thing?).... this thing is being perceived as outrageous n the sheer fact that the world is laughing at us ought to embarrass us,,n if our neighbours are laughing at us, how do we explain our position.....by laughing with them????yeah, yeah u guys r right,,we do have a truckload of scum amongst our top brass,,,haha heehee.... sorry Babar..for being grumpy n paranoid but i just cant take this thing in my stride ( m actually planning to greet him on chaklala air base carrying some disturbing placards...ideas for them would b welcome)
@psing
"It's only sexual harassment when a man is undateable."
Lllooooollllzzzzzz..... Awesome Comment......
How could I miss this Buzz.
- Well I personally see nothing wrong at all what he said. He was just trying to break the ice and in a very friendly way. Frankly speaking I would have said the same and infact hugged the lady.
- If one becomes the President, one doesn't become impotent.
- And what is this talk of Islamic State thing. What Islamic. Last night I was in a party where women and wine were available more easily than a glass of water I was searching for. Isn't all night dancing going on in the posh houses and in the hera mandi every night. What Islamic state. Pakistan...........It is but anything but Islamic. Facade.
- Womanizing...........I think it is a personal matter. Our every leader has done it and continue to do it all the time. It's a non issue. If readers will have patience, I can enlighten them what our "leaders" of this "islamic" repulic have been doing.....womanizing.........non issue.
- Having said that, and on a lighter note, a leader says these things when:
(a) He has spent too much time in the company of a dog (maximillian)
(b) or a Eunuch
- I did not hear the sound of any Jiyala during the conversation saying "Zinda Hai Bibi Zinda hai"
Everyone should thank Allah Almighty that Irfanzafar is not our President :)
Lol...... Is he more budnaam than Zardari?
Why do we get embarrassed so easily? Why do we feel inferior? Someone should
ask Zardari how he feels about himself. A person who has no education, who
can't even spell the word "God", is a sovereign
of a state. He does not feel ashamed of his illiteracy. I would say he's one
lucky ba*%@#$. An inferior nation never achieves anything. Look over the flaws
of other people. Lets make us perfect first.
A cousin of mine changed his Muslim name to a
Christian just to land the job of his dreams. How screwed up is that? I know
many people who hide their identity or their religion. It is beyond my
understanding. Pakistanis have this inferiority complex. An Indian would always
proudly say, “I’m an Indian”.
How do you know Palen hasn't gotten the image of
Kashmala Tariq? The campaign has been holding many secrets and has hushed
things up. Her own daughter is pregnant by some African American guy. Media has
completely suppressed the issue. The last baby of Palen is also her daughter's
baby. A woman, who has strong beliefs in religion and condemns sex before
marriage. We only hear what media tells us.
hey wait, u have mixed two very different emotions together....embarrassment has nothing to do with inferiority complex////// we r feeling embarrassed only coz we still have some national pride left in us,,,which has been dented by these actions of our president...
Should be proud no matter. Why embarrassed? What has he done so wrong? No one dents your pride but you. We are our own enemies.
By the way, How's your recovery coming along?
Haven't came across a single Pakistani who is embarrassed of his or her Pakistani identity. Your cousin is probably an exception Saira0915. I don't think that your assessment is correct.
In fact, I have two Pakistani neighbors and we are all very proud of letting people know that we are from Pakistan.

- A cousin of mine too has changed his name to an english one....pathetic
- we still have some national pride left in us.... Nop. We don't
- What has he done so wrong?.... Nothing wrong in what he did
@Babar
I know many people who have changed their names to some American(Christian) names so their identity stays hidden. I don't do assessment on people, I say what I hear with my two ears and what I see with my two eyes. You will find many Pakistanis in America who are proud to be called "Mike, Sam, or John".
But I do agree with Psing, Babar, and Dr.irfanzafar on this issue. There's nothing wrong in what he said. No one should be embarrassed by his behavior.
Wo wo wo!
wait wait. Calm down everyone.
Its not about Islam, our dignity or perception, feeling pride or guilty. Its about how Zardari conducted himself and that is conduct unbecoming of a President. He is not an ordinary guy there meeting an ordinary women in a park. The comments sounds extremely cheap in that context.
