Pakistan International Airlines welcomes another chairman!
submitted 1 year 4 months 15 hours ago by: razorfish : 0 commentsPakistan International Airlines bid farewell to another departing chairman on the 28th of Feb, 2008. The decision came out of nowhere when Mr. Zaffar A. Khan, departing chairman, resigned from his position saying that someone with more exercising powers can only turn the ailing airline. In another way, he was conveying the message that now that the government has toppled, the new government should appoint it's own blue-eyed boy that they trust, well knowing that all key positions offered by the last government would eventually be re-filled anyway, as has always been the case in Pakistan.
Mr. Rasul Khan, who was earlier serving as the Defence Secretary, has been appointed the new chairman of PIA. In addition to the new chairman, PIA is also going to welcome Mr. Aslam Khan, retired head of PIA Investments Ltd, as its Managing Director.
The airline has been operating in continuous losses for several years and is surviving only because of the stream of money injections by the Pakistani government.
Let's see what good can these two brains bring to the airline which is on the verge of collapse.
