9th of November, what is the importance of this day, why it's been declared as a national holiday? Well, it's the day when our great national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born!
A brief intro of Allama Iqbal:
Sir Muhammad Iqbal born (November 9, 1877 – April 21, 1938) was a Muslim poet, philosopher and politician born in Sialkot, British India (now in Pakistan), whose poetry in Urdu and Persian is considered to be among the greatest of the modern era, and whose vision of an independent state for the Muslims of British India was to inspire the creation of Pakistan.
Most of Allama Iqbal's writings were devoted to a revival of Islam. In his presidential address to the Muslim League in 1930, he first suggested that the Muslims of northwestern India should demand a separate nation for themselves.
Some of his writings include:
Bang-e-Dara (The Call of the Marching Bell)
Asrar-e-Khudi (Secrets of the Self) in Persian.
Payam-e-Mashriq (The Message Of The East)
Tulu'i Islam (Dawn of Islam).
Most of his work was in Persian however, he wrote renowned poems in Urdu too!
Today, Muslims are in crises, they are fighting against each other, they have forgotten the preaching of our Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). It's time to remember what they have left behind! Allama Iqbal would never have dreamt of such a Pakistan!

Dr. Sb. Correct me if I'm wrong, but its judges like Javed Iqbal that have played an active role in bringing this country to the point where it is. If only we had justice in this country, things would have been much different than they are right now. But the fact is that its the absence of a true, timely and independent justice that has ruined this country's past, present and future for sure.

Well, that's a bad joke from some cheap Pakistani. Its good to have a laugh for a minute or so, but can have serious lasting repercussions.
I, on the other hand, am very hopeful and have full faith in our youth. The way the student community has stood up against this emergency affair is really commendable. I salute to all those who have come out and condemned it publicly. May God give them and all the rest of us strength to stand before the oppressors. Amen.
Somehow, I could never relate myself to Allama Iqbal's poetry. One very valid reason probably is that I am more of a romanticist and am not very serious towards life. Ghalib has been one of my favourite poets.
Even in revolutionary writings, I find myself more inclined towards Faiz. Quite a number of his poems have the ability to really shake the soul of an otherwise peaceful person.
AmerSarfraz I am not sure what information you are privy to but the students havent done a darn thing.
The failure of people to turn out on Friday is an indictment of our indifference to an issue that will have serious consequences for years to come.
THE JUDICIARY has been trampled upon; not even Zia dared to do this; he appointed yes men, but never directly humiliated the judiciary.
We should be out on the streets everyone of us
