DISRESPECTING JINNAH

DISRESPECTING JINNAH

DISRESPECTING JINNAH

Governor Punjab recently administered the oath to the 21st chief minister of the Punjab in the Darbar Hall of the Governor's House. It was painful to see the picture of Ms Benazir Bhutto hanging on the wall above that of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal, the video footage of which is available with the electronic media. Without any disrespect intended to Ms Buhtto, it was outrageous to see the hight Psycophancy displayed by the staff of the Governor house at the cost of disrespecting the two figures whose portraits have always been displayed above all at every Government institution without any exception.

Throught the columns of this newspaper I would appeal to all the Judges of the Superior Courts to take suo moto notice of this act and ensure that in future no one dares to disrespect the honour of our great leaders with the intention to get political mileage out of it. This issue requires rising above all prejudices and I am sure that our evolving Judiciary will not let the Nation down and will give exemplary punishment to the big wig involved.

I've read your letter to editor in The Nation last day.

It's really unfortunate that our government is in the hands of a sort of people who have no respect for the founder of the country. They just don't know how Quaid-e-Azam sacificed his whole life for the sake of our freedom and how badly we are repaying him.

This is quite stupid. Obsession of PPP workers and ministers for BB is understandable but no need to impose their obsession over rest of us.

Having said that, I do not see this act as disrespectful to Jinnah or Iqbal.

Plant a tree

It is painful...why they need to make BB a sacred entity? They are stupids.
