PINKI it was not unseen and unexpected...the game plan is being followed through which he had come back in the country...After all that was a deal...and deal always unfolds itself later....What a contradiction he is having in his statements..He has accepted the PCO judges with financial billl 2008 and also making hue and cry that we dont beleive in PCO judges..

Mianjee I agree to your conclusion and politically it looks correct.
However an important factor worth considering here is that Nawaz is a convicted man (rightfully or not is another issue). He by requesting for a pardon in the plane hijack case has indemnified the decision of that Court. Therefore he stands disqualified from contesting polls. Making changes in a law is out of the jurisdiction of a High Court, so there is nothing that this High Court could have done in this regard. The High Court can only interpret Laws and give decision in light of what is given in the book.
Laws are relative to previous decision of Supreme Courts and legislation passed by parliament through a 2/3 majority i.e. New law is made through:
A- Supreme Courts (called common law)
B- 2/3 majority of parliament (called statutory law)
Very rarely Supreme Court and onlySupreme Court judges can change laws i.e. Common law previously created by another supreme court or a statutory law created by parliament. This is not a common practice and requires a lot consideration. Or in other words only Supreme Court has authority to by pass previous laws but they only do that very discreetly. Generally speaking, Supreme Court is a very conservative body when it comes to going unconventional or making any changes in the rules.
So there is only one way for Nawaz to get this rule changed and that is through Supreme Court of Pakistan (I doubt he will be able to get 2/3 in this parliement). This is what makes reinstatement of Chawdhary Ifftikhar so important for Nawaz and this is why Musharraf sacked him at the first place and this can also be the reason why PPP does not want reinstatement of Chawdhary Ifftikhar & want another judge to replace him as CJ.
This is the total politics of entire Iftikhar Chawdhary episode and rest is all a gimmick to deceive common man.I however sincerely feel sorry for the Lawyers, they are the only genuine party in this entire drama.

MQM alone was responsible for daylight murder of Hakim Saeed....n for this crime alone i m never going to forgive them....Have u read prize-winning article of Javed Chaudhry "Madeenah ka shaheed"???? in that heart wrenching article of his, he tells the story of two brothers,,, one of them opted to stay in India n one of them left for Pakistan full of hope n dreams.....then some decades later, the brother in india(who had grown very old as he was the eldest) opened his daily newspaper, n peeping at him, from the front page, was the headline of his little brother's horrible murder....his feelings at that time are not that hard to judge..he must have thought..."oh my poor little idealist brother, u were martyred in Madeenah amid millions of ur Muslim brethren and i m safe in Karbalah in the middle of non-muslims"....
i havnt done justice to the article but i guess i have made my point....i hate MQM n i hate their bloody politics....i hate their section commanders n i hate the exploitation of my muhajir brothers at their hands....n for the record, i whole-heartedly support the extra judicial "encounter killings" of the terrorists(since the judiciary has never been independent n is liable to release these terrorists once they r safely behind the bars)...

I used to carry same opinion as yours some 5 years ago. They have got structural changes going on internally. I am quite impressed with the educated leadership that is emerging within the cadres of MQM.
Democracy and open society can do wonders & I am sure they are position best to take advantage of this opportunity.
