LAHORE - The PML-N on Monday issued an alleged audiotape to substantiate former chief minister Punjab Ch Pervaiz Elahi's conspiracies as a last-ditch effort to reject the nomination papers of
the Sharif brothers.

PML-N Central Secretary Information and former federal minister or education Ahsan Iqbal produced the audiotape during a urriedly-called Press conference held at PML-N headquarters Model Town.
"We have received an audiotape in the office. In the tape, an unknown person is informing former Punjab chief minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi that the Lahore High Court chief justice has assured that he
would constitute a tribunal which would reject nomination papers of both Sharifs," Iqbal added.

The PML-N Secretary Information termed such activities as conspiracy against the entire nation. He said unless the unconstitutional president, Pervez Musharraf, steps down, the season of conspiracies would continue.

Iqbal said that after the Sharif brothers' nomination papers were accepted, the President and his accomplices started hatching conspiracies to stop them reaching the Parliament.

"Besides audiotape, we will make public more evidences to prove that Musharraf and Pervaiz Elahi were conspiring against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif. He said Musharraf was like a computer virus which is destructive for the country. "We need to get rid of him as soon as possible," he added.

Responding to a query, he said: "Until we receive draft of constitutional package, we cannot comment on it". But, he added, the PML-N would neither support minus one formula, nor would it accept curtailment in deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry's tenure.

Iqbal said PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari had finally agreed that February 18 public mandate was for restoration of judges and getting rid of Musharraf. He termed the murder of PML-N leader in Karachi as target killing. He said had an inquiry been held into the May 12 carnage, such incident would not have happened. He said the PML-N had still reservation on the appointment of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer as the latter had not mended his way so far.

Monitoring Desk adds: Supreme Court Bar Association President Ch Aitzaz Ehsan has said as the audiotape released by PML-N seems to be a genuine one, therefore, Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar should tender his resignation from his post, reported a private TV channel Monday.

Talking to the media, Aitzaz demanded that Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar to explain his position before the judicial council. He alleged that President Pervez Musharraf was the source of all conspiracies.

Talking about the US delegation's meeting with deposed CJ Justice Iftikhar Ch, Aitzaz said that members of the team were shocked after knowing the ground realities. They were not inclined to believe that CJ's children were not allowed to got to their school for five months, Aitzaz said adding that no judge could be detained as per the constitution.
