Pakistani Band "Junoon" performance in Held Kashmir

The Nation on Saturday ran a news on it's website that the Pakistani music band "Junoon" is due to perform in the Occupied Kashmir on Sunday that is today (probably). If this goes through, this is going to be the first performance in Held Kashmir by any Pakistani music band.

However, the newspaper goes on to say that

Quote
Syed Salahuddin, chairman of the United Jehad Council, the alliance of rebel groups, has appealed to the Pakistani government to halt the performance, according to local news agency Current News Service. ``The event will be exploited by New Delhi to trumpet that Kashmiris have abandoned the freedom struggle,'' he was quoted as saying on Thursday.

Don't know the follow-up story on this news, if anyone has any update, please share.

By the way, my personal view is that Junoon (for that matter any Pakistani band) should not go and perform in the Held Kashmir, unless this issue is resolved at the government level. I am not saying that the stance is right from the Pakistani side, but all I am saying is that the issue should be amicably resolved first, may even be an independence of Kashmir.

There is only one way to legitimacy of any freedom struggle and that is widely
held support of that struggle within the community. Furthermore this issue is
not as straight forward as you fear. There is a resolution passed in UN which
tells India to hold referendum in Indian held Kashmir and let them decide for
their fate (interestingly J.L. Nahru got it passed ;)- & now his own
country is being disobedient).

Now as for the concert I doubt it can do any benefit or damage to Kashmiri
cause. But it can surely give common person a decent entertainment. Let them
have some entertainment as life must be hard there.

This is not an healthy dicision, artist should not be stopped, there should be free access, to all over the world.

Babar and Ibrahim:

Kashimiries have reached at this stage by many many sacrifices..The blood of pakistani youngesters projected this cause..The civilized world do say that artists are ambassedors...When a whole nation doesnt accept the illigitimate occupation of India then our artist should also respect it...India ,ofcourse, will portrait it as a sign of harmony between India and kashmir...You very well know their media

Salahuddin has a 25 years of fight history behind him...he understands the groud realities well. We shoudl respect his opinion and sentiments..

I am amazed, you guys can mix politics and a hundred other issues and stubbornly insist on remaining backward on every front. Kashmiris deserve a break. They have been vicitims of terrorist activities and military occupation since 25 years now. And if they can have the semblance of ordinary life that you and I enjoy, why shouldn't they enjoy it?

Stop your rant and let people live.

There are approx 400,000 Indian solders in Kashmir. That is almost the size of total Pak-army. Try imagine life there. They deserve a break

Dear Friends, if all of you are Pakistanis, I can now understand why Pakistan has failed as an Islamic state. How can a singing event give kashmiris a "break". Do you sing and dance when your loved ones die or get killed. Every day is a suffering for Kashmiris at the hands of mainly Indian and some Pakistani agents. Do you want Kashmiris to sing and enjoy the singing event when they are under siege by Indian forces. Shame on you who propose this. I can only pray for the Hidayath and wise thinking for the Muslims of Pakistan and Kashmir. Pakistan has failed because of people like you who see singing a great entertainment tool. Muslims of the subcontinent saw a ray of hope in Pakistan but alass, we cannot forget Bangladesh, failed Kashmiri policy and failled commitment to implement divine law in Pakistan.First of all, how can one implement the divine law if the majority of People of Pakistan are against it. Pakistani brothers and sisters, with some exception which only God knows, you all need to improve yourselves on true Islamic faith and righteous deeds.

Junoon is such a "bey-sura" band. Had Mehdi Hassan or Ghulam Ali performed it would have made more sense.
