PIA to introduce a non-stop flight from Pakistan to USA starting 2nd April, 2008.

PIA to introduce a non-stop flight from Pakistan to USA starting 2nd April, 2008.

Uptill now, no carrier flies non-stop from Pakistan to United States. Even with the induction of long range aircrafts (Boeing 777-200LR), that have enabled PIA to fly non-stop from Pakistan to Toronto, PIA has been touching down at Manchester on it's way to New York.

It's not that Pakistan International's aircrafts are not capable to fly non-stop without refueling at Manchester, but rather its a restriction imposed by the US Civil Aviation. They have not allowed aircrafts to fly non-stop for security reasons, as according to their findings, the security measures at Pakistani airports are not strict enough to comply with US regulations.

Currently, however, negotiations are underway with the US Civil Aviation and if all goes well PIA is going to get a security clearance to fly direct from Lahore and Karachi to New York starting 2nd April, 2008. This decision however is subject to security clearance, but the situation is looking good for the approval this time around. If this clearance comes in, Passengers will be able to fly out of Pakistan and into New York in just about 12 hours, which is going to benefit a lot of travelers that are looking to save time and hassle.

So let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

who wants to fly by retarded PIA with so much at risk ! my only international travel with PIA was when i took London to Lahore while on my way from Washington DC TO PK. Would you believe A/C was not working ? and they had a patch on the fuse lage...OMG i won't take it for sure next time ....

dude if you want to fly to USA - fly to UK/EU and then take BA, Virgin Atlantic, Southwest or United Airline - dont ever take any asian airline or you'll be pinned down at immigration desks for long long hours. Take any EU/US flight - you'll be out in 5 mins.

well i have travelled with British Airways n Swiss air for international flights, PIA is my choice for domestic flights

but i will avail this new option when n if it becomes available....i might suffer for 12 hours but the revenue generated frm my ticket will ensure that u ppl wont suffer in long-run

POINT TO PONDER:  but what will i do in US?

Thats good news for people travelling in that direction but I fail to understand Why doesn't PIA have flights to Australia?

stopping in manchester is very annoying. It's nothing but a waste of time. Traveling with a baby, taking of shoes and belt was the last thing I wanted on my flight. 12 hours is good news. Other than that PIA needs to get its house in order and start treating customers professionally.
