Yesterday I was visiting Faisalabad, my home town. As I landed off the motorway (M3) on to the Sargodha Road, the highway that takes you straight into Faisalabad City, I could see how the election campaign in the city was picking up.

To start with, there are two huge billboads right on the front where motorway hits the Sargodha Road, both of which were placed to welcome Mian Nawaz Sharif, head of PML(N), who is supposed to visit Faiaslabad today. When you turn on the Sargodha Road, there are billboards and banners on either sides of the road talking about the political contestants, who by the way are all THE BEST of all, which doesn't surprises me at all.

Reaching home, a friend came over to see me and while we were having a good chat over a cup of tea, he received a call and I could see his face expressions changing. There was some issues of a flex banner of a contestant (another friend's brother).

After hanging up the phone, without talking to me, he frantically started making calls (one after the other) and this exercise went on for about a good ten minutes, when finally he got off the phone. The issue was that someone had committed to place a banner of our friend's brother (PPP contestant) on a biilding that that someone owned. Suddenly, there was news of Mian Nawaz Sharif visiting Faisalabad (today) and that someone was pressurised by his friends and relatives who supported PML(N) to replace the banner of PPP with PML(N) banner, atleast for the time that MNS (Mian Nawaz Sharif) was supposed to be in Faiasalabad. After much argument, my friend gave up and allowed the banners to be switched till evening today, but got a word from that someone that no other banner will again be hung there except for the banner of our friend's bro.  But all this caused a serious mental tension for my friend as its supposed to be a matter of much disturbance.

I don't know what to say or conclude from whatever I have written, but it was an event for me. This is how seriously we take our elections and how non-seriously we take our responsibilities as elected members of the parliament.
