Gary Kirsten, a fine opening batsman of South Africa, has signed a deal of coaching the Indian Cricket Team for two years. However, some Indian newspapers quoted anonymous senior players as saying that the current management structure was working well and that Kirsten's appointment was unnecessary. Hearing this, Kirsten delayed his decision to sign the contract but in the end, he made a deal. He will start work on March 1, 2008, almost a year after his predecessor, Greg Chappell, resigned from this post. Daryll Cullinan, former SA test cricketer, has backed up Kirsten as the Indian Coach.
