I think you are not aware of GEO...its been funded by USA govt......just think what Jew /Indian/ American lobby want ……… the basic idea is to promote frustration, and despondence in a nation, so they start to demoralize and the future can be mapped as they want to project it in the minds of 50 percent illiterate population....that are born Muslim, can't read, but can see.
- Why on earth USA is concern with only GEO, why CNN, BBC and bush quote GEO? Why not other TV channels in china, japan, Cuba, India, Saudi Arabia, France? Why only Pakistan??????
- Why geo showed peoples' bodies without head, only finger parts, people dying after bomb blast? Does any other channel show these things?
- Just think…… in India more than 2000 Muslims were killed in Gujarat in three months!!!! Did you see any 36 hours live coverage of these killings? Has any one seen this on ZEE or star or Sony etc… any Indian channel????
- Babri Masjid was destroyed by Hindus…. any live coverage???? Nuns in Tamil nado of India were burnt alive in a church and for next 6 hours the church kept burning. Did any Indian channel or CNN or BBC show that???? In France, 700 cars were burnt in one day… yet no coverage.
- There were 89 separatist movements in India in 2007 …from Bihar to Kashmir Assam etc… Did you see on any Indian channel showing 250 million people sleeping on footpath?????
- Zee India never showed killing of Kashmiris and the attack on GOLDEN TEMPLE, killing of Sikhs on Indian soil
- How many Israeli channels show killing by Israeli soldiers, when they kill Palestinians?????
- Have you ever seen Indian president or politician being verbally abused on TV channels during live coverage????
- There have been reported 30,000 rape cases in USA… do you see on TV???? But you see Mukhtaran maee on geo/cnn/bbc

By a private channel!!!!!!
- 50 percent Indian dramas on geo and 25 percent with mix cast (Indian and Pakistani) and Indian films.
- Movie like "khuda key liyaeh" an issue of religion, so that people can play with Islam and its culture was telecasted.
- Alim online where Mr. Amir Liaqat sitting in grave and dramatizing Islam. He translated the dua of imam kaba and broadcasted his name on TV.... Audience: 50% jahil people in pakistan
- Geo did not show any good news like Islamabad Peshawar motorway but instead it showed dead people in karachi ....
- They never discuss 5.1 billion dollar of oil refinery in Pakistan, instead they show beheading of Pakistani people...
- Never discuss why America is telling musharf to take off his uniform????/why is USA interfering in our business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as they create panic in public & they make people confused.
I have got this number of times as this content is spead around in mass emails and probably author of this post has also got it from the mailing list (but hasn't care to mention that). By the way, if this is the criteria of banning a channel then Al-Jazeera should be banned too.

Well I am associated with Jang Group since 1995, and never knew that
Group is funded by USA, that’s really an amazing stuff to read, ……… seems like

Geo is simply showing what is happening and it’s an responsibility of any
independent news channel to show what exactly is happening without any addition
or subtraction and estimation, why the fingers and body parts in Lal Masjid
were found in the rubble at first place, where mothers still are mourning and
mothers who lost pieces of their hearts still visit the grounded Madrissa and
try to search the belongings of their children from the rubble.

on the killings of more then 2000 which were more then 5000 Muslims, better
check the transmission of Dordarshan and you will found 48 hour live broadcast
of the incidence not 36 hours.

* Geo has reported in the same fashion since it began broadcasting in 2002. Yet it is only now that there is a concerted effort to discredit it. Why now? This is because of the ‘psy-op’ (psychological operations, the new term for propaganda) being conducted against Geo by the government/ISI.
* Independent media is one of the most important tools of political accountability. The media’s job is to be a mirror for society and show everything; the good, the bad and the ugly. If we do not like what is being broadcast, the problem lies with our society, not with the news broadcast. The problems of our society will continue whether we can see them on tv or not.
* Audio-visual media is even more important in a society with a high rate of illiteracy as even illiterate people can use it to be aware of what is happening in their society and act accordingly in an informed way.
* Some important myths about Geo and other media that need debunking are:
* Geo Tv is not ‘funded’ by the US government. It runs on substantial ad revenues generated by its market position as one of the most popular tv networks in Pakistan. The Pakistan military under Musharraf, however, has been funded by the US to the tune of $20 billion and counting (not including military hardware transfers).
* Private news media everywhere reports on domestic problems. Star News, Aaj Tak, Zee News, Sahara and BBC all reported live from Gujarat during the 2002 communal riots. Babri Masjid was watched on the news around the world and recordings still survive. The event received extensive coverage afterwards. Live coverage was hampered by journalists being beaten and detained and their equipment being smashed (as also happened during the May Karachi riots). CNN could afford to show live coverage of the OJ Simpson trial for months – and it does not even have entertainment channels to subsidize its news network!!
* The writer of the anti-Geo statement expresses shock at why the US is interfering in Pakistan’s business. The truth is that the US has been heavily involved in Pakistan since the time of Ayub Khan in the 1950’s. Pakistani military officers receive training in the US, including at Fort Benning in Georgia, through the US Defense Department’s International Military Education and Training Program (IMET). US involvement in Pakistan has increased under Musharraf, whose government has received $20 billion from the US and follows the US’s military instructions in exchange.
* The simple question for anybody to ask is: why is it Geo’s fault if the US is interfering in Pakistani politics in an improper way? Isn’t it the Musharraf government’s fault for letting any improper involvement continue and increase? If there is so much interference by the US in Pakistani politics, then why does Musharraf not take a public stand against it? Wheter Geo is funding by America or some where esle, or any other isuue. I want to ask to those peole, who are ignoring this thread. if you are living out of Pakistan. And the channels like Geo is showing this type of the live scenes, So can you think that what will be the effect of these scenes on the rest of the world. No body will come to Pak. and no visitors will come here. No foriegner will be take any interest to come and do some business in Pak. OK... Let me tell one thing. All we know the situation of Afghastan, Iraq, Cuba and DO U HAVE ANY INTEREST TO GO THERE. DO U WANT TO START ANY BUSINESS THERE???? I want to answer this??? NO ... WHY....? Coz we have bad Image for that countries.. That the citizens of that country are not in the state of security... Who will be responsible for our lifes security... How stupid do you think investors are? There is almost a complete media blackout about events in North Korea. Has that led to a massive influx of investment? No. Beucase a country's investment, tourism and general reputation depend on its internal stability and how it treats its own people. This is why despite the negative portrayal of Cuba in the American media as you point out, Cuba is seen as a good investment and tourist destination (though the communist government does not allow foreign investment in all sectors of the economy). The tourism sector is booming. Investment in Cuba is still relatively low only due to a comprehensive US embargo. But firms are lining up waiting for the embargo to lift and the economy to open up. Because everyone, especially intelligent investors, knows that Cuba is a stable country with a healthy and highly educated population despite its negative media portrayals. This is what counts.
Whether Geo reports on these things or not in Pakistan or elsewhere, the fact is that these things happen. Investment etc in Pakistan will improve only when the conditions in Pakistan change, not because we refuse to show and see the conditions. A country's problems don't disappear when you ignore them and refuse to see them; they only become worse.
Mr.Kashif do u think that foreign investers will come to pakistan after watching TV, not at all, that means they pay there palnning department for nothing ,the media must show what is the reality, not only GEO but all channels.

Khuda ka liya is not an anti islam movie. It is one of the best movie and I am proud that it came out of pakistan..done/directed by one of the brilliant guy in the industry, this movie is the need of time. Like George Bernard Shaw said, "Islam is the best religion and muslims are the worst people."
We blame everything on US, we are bunch of hypocrites, think we are better than everyone, have distorted Islam and turned the religion of peace into religion of violence. And now we are saying shoot the messanger which is pretty much in line with the typical muslim mentality of today's world. A simple solution to end this problem permanently:
Set fire to every single belonging of GEO in pakistan, destroy their all assets, if necessary execute all personnel who work for GEO (without trial). A word of caution: while doing this ban all media in the country to control hue and cry
Show as much aggression as possible and thwart and kill openly, there will be a few good ones in list of killed too but the no. will be insiginificant.

The lawyers movement, some what free elections, etc are all due largely in part to the outspokeness of Geo
I am posting here late. but i think Geo & other chanels like ARY ONE WORLD, AAJ Tv etc should promote Pakistan's positive image not Sucide bombing, news of despiration, discourage. If these channels can't do better for Pakistan, then they should be banned entirely.

Thats absolutely right. Geo and all other channels should lie, or at the very least they should hide the truth. If they insist on telling the truth they should be banned entirely. All Pakistani's deserve to live their lives filled with the comfortable lies and deceit our leaders and PTV feed us.

We should not abuse Geo for their coverage because other channels are also showing the reality like AAJ TV, ARY and now many other channels too. So we should always absorb positive things not negative.

If GEO is funded by USA, why it's programms were banned by the order of Musharaf who is american puppet. Some of the things I know what GEO telling people are right, e.g.
Polititians not fulfilling their promise to restore judiciary.
People in Pakistan commiting suicide because of poverty.
Interviews of people like Imran Khan (one of the heroes of Pakistan), who talks against USA and our Generals (as we all know our traitor Generals are paid by USA).
