A new chapter - Start of a new era?

A new chapter - Start of a new era?

THE News (WASHINGTON): Indian External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee said on Saturday that India would not create hurdles in case of a civil nuclear deal between the United States and Pakistan. His statement comes just one day after signing the bilateral 123 Agreement with US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice here.

Referring to Pakistan as one of India’s neighbouring states, Mukherjee told the media that every country has the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

India, according to Mukherjee, would like to encourage civil nuclear cooperation for peaceful use of nuclear energy.

Mukherjee also said that India believes that every country has the right to utilise nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Therefore, Delhi supports Islamabad’s demand for a nuclear deal with the US like India.

Mukherjee also said that India is always keen to maintain amicable relationship with Pakistan and attempts its best to solve all outstanding issues through proper negotiation. He also praised Pakistan president, Asif Ali Zardari’s recent statements about preventing terrorism in and outside Pakistan. Islamabad too has no objection to the recent Indo-US nuclear deal.

Is this a start of a new era? Will India and Pakistan, two traditional rivals, become strongest allies? Can we two become support to each other on international stage? After all we are same people.

Isn't this statement a change in itself?

If you are some Mullah whose entire life is founded on hating Hindus then there is no point having this debate but from previous debates my understanding was bit different for you.

Plant a tree

Shakeel does have a point there...nothing akin to Hindu hatred there. These are the ground facts.

lol , @ mullah

life is not ment for hate , but facts are facts

He could have stayed quite but he opted to speak out in our favor. This is a diplomatic gesture, which may result in better ties between both our counties. Its not about Americans or nukes, its about relations between India and Pakistan.

I used this news only as a backdrop for my real questions i.e.

1- Are Indians and Pakistanis become friends and allies?

2- Is this start of new era for our relations with India?

Sorry I was not clear enough

Plant a tree

they can develop better relations , and sort out outstanding disputes , such as kashmir

and try to improve living  standard of there citizens

1-they are voilating indus water treaty...retricting our water of chenab...sutluj and ravi are also dry because india is not releasing our part of water...we are goign to face a dry-age...

2-1.5 lac indian army is deploying in afghanistan from thsi novemeber...which will be an open threat to pakistan...from chaman border ver clear indications of indian involvement observed

3-2nd pakistani prisoner who was supposed to be released the day after, killed in amratsur jail but we freed their spy and now sarbajeet singh is being freed in within 2 weeks

4-6 mulims burnt to death in hyderabad daccan area 2 days ago...

5-a whole train was burnt in india and many pakistani passangers had died...

please advise on which bases you people are lookign for changing grounds?

As I had said in a different post.... "Venue of vultures"

Mianjee,

Religious extremists are there at both sides. I can tell you similar tales about Muslim extremists. Having said that, large majority of Pakistanis and Indians are modest and moderate people. There are approximately 140 million Muslims living in India and they call India as their home. I doubt that they will agree with your understanding of Indian society.

Problems being highlighted relating India government are all the more reason why we should have better relations between our two countries. After all Pakistan intelligence agencies have been behind many terrorist activities in India in past. This is best time to put end to all of it.

Why create more problems for each other and not help eliminate common problems?

babar: what is the role of agencies in voilation of indus water treaty? it is simply a case of indian pruijidice about pakistan...you and me both are here and you will see when they will block all rivers and will ask for our surrender on kashmir issue.

these burnt muslims are not the only case happened in india...just two weeks ago christions were under fire..ahmed abad (gujrat) had seen many brutal killings previous year and that was not a media campaign just...in current clashes in jammu where hindus burnt trucks of muslim kashmiri fruit traders and caused a loss for them worth 200 karoors( it is indian tv report) ...in mani pur they are crushing budhist minority, in hyder abad daccan, ahmed abad and andhra perdesh they are killign muslims , in ureesa they are killing chiristions and in jammu they are setting trade goods of mulsim kashmiries on fire...doesnt it show that whole india is in the hands of extriemists?

on other side in pakistan since last many years not a single church or munder sat on fire...youhna abad Lahore is a christion majority area and they are livign peacefully, hinuds are in majoiryt in the area of mirpur khas(sindh) , thar parker, sukker, sangur, thar desert, cholistan desert and they are well off. they even contest elections from there..please advise me when was the last minority attacj took place in pakistan? even in Bara(NWFP) which is alleged as a taliban area , there are aroudn 100 families of sikhs who are dry fruit traders and they are not being touched by taliban even...

in india Shiv Saina is the most extriemist group(bal thakray) and they contest election and win teh seats but in pakistan our most extriemist party taliban cant contest election here whch shows that our people are not extriemists as indian are...so please be out of indian propoganda and dont undermine ourselves

& so based on all the above mention problems (in Indian) you have concluded that we should not have peace with them?

Then may be we shouldn't have peace with any country on globe keeping human rights the criteria. Name one country where there is no violation of human rights.

Plant a tree

Babar...we should carry on the peace process but on the base of equality..yet it is one sided love.....

lets see what they do on this indus basen treaty...

Dam is a tactical issues Mianjee. We must benefit our two people, improve lives, educate, provide health - these are far bigger issues.

UN has rejected Pakistan's entire bunch of objections on the dam with exception of only one objection, where India has been asked to reduce size of the dam. Pakistanis are doing the right thing i.e. to resolve issue through negotiations and seek international guarantees.

Plant a tree

what UN can do...we both know well..it is more authorityless than union council cabnit...what they were able to do with india on kashmir issue ..nothing ... will they  be able to do now on water conflict

America is using India & Pakistan both........

Yeah America is using everyone aur hum "Ullu ke patthay" hain, to be at their service. People, why do you forget that we are not the most wisest nation in the world. Why blame someone else for our stupidities? No one is using us we just like being used by other nations to gain sympathy.

Good God!!!!! 915 about to drop on some building!!!!!

About to.....
