On Thursday Morning before heading for work when i switched on the TV to get an over view of news there was ticker going on "Geo Tv" stating that Musharraf had a long discussion with the Chief of Army staff and there is confirmed report from a reliable resource of GEO Tv that Musharraf is expected to resign within 24 - 48 hours. The news breaking was made exclusive and breaking news. Every few seconds the ticker was being played.The coverage almost showed the resignation of the President.

But unfortunately it wasn't true and as the time turns out it seems more like yet another HOAX by GEO TV, of which i became part of as well. I thought of sharing an exclusive & exciting news to the community of BuzzVines as we are all looking forward to this turn of event, but i trusted the wrong resource GEO tv.

So far we people talk on the freedom of press but what if press gets into the habit of rumors, just like this one which caused excitement in many people's minds but on the other hand had a horrible down fall on the Karachi Stock Exchanged which dropped below 12000 points thus causing financial loss of billions to some investors and of course opportunity for other to invest when the stock price is pulled down people like the top directors or owners of GEO TV.

This is not the first time it has happened previously GEO was part of many such conspiracies and played a very positive role in spreading such rumors. In such regard should the Govt. penalize and if they do the slogan of "Freedom of Press" comes to the life.Was the implementation of the PEMRA ordinance in the favor of Pakistan as our media cannot understand the responsibility and handle the power of press they have ....
