Musharraf to Resign as President of Pakistan.

The past week had been tough and finally the things start to take shape. Wednesday Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani held an
extremely important meeting with President Pervez Musharraf at the Army
House Rawalpindi. The meeting continued till after midnight lasting more than
three-and-a-half hours. This was their longest one-on-one encounter. During the meeting some major desions have been finalized including the Movement of Musharraf from Army House to the Presidential Palace or a safe exit strategy.
Brigadier Faheem Rao has taken over the command of the Triple-One
Brigade one of the most important and powerful Army brigade in place of the president's loyal commander Brigadier Aasim
Bajwa. The commando unit looking after the security of the Presidency
has been changed with another unit.
Highly placed sources said
late on Wednesday evening that President Pervez Musharraf has made up
his mind to call it a day and he can make an announcement in this
regard any time. His closest aides are of the view that after losing
all hope of survival in power the president has made up his mind to
lead a retired life.
Sources said though the president's official spokesman denied this impression, Musharraf has no option left but to quit.
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a speech to fist-pumping supporters on Wednesday, claimed that Asif Ali Zardari, whose party leads the coalition, agreed in Tuesday talks to remove Musharraf.
But a spokeswoman for Zardari said that while his party might consider impeaching Musharraf, its priority was to cut back the president's powers.
Sharif addressed a gathering of his Pakistan Muslim League-N party to mark the 10th anniversary of the atomic bomb test that made Pakistan the world's only Islamic nuclear power.
So far it has been confirmed from many resources that within 24 - 48 hours Musharaf will be stepping down as the President of the Pakistan and will be provided safe exit out of Pakistan to either to his private island in Turkey or to USA-California where is both the children's are resident of.

He should not be allowed to leave Pakistan and should be hanged in public
By the way, what is the source of your news?
Tv channels
Before he goes he will spit in every dish at his farewell.
Khalifah,
Seriously man! Why are you so brutal? Your ideology seems
parallel to that of Osama-bin-Laden or Taliban. Pakistani society is far
more civil then your ruthless doctrine. I hope we have better ways to resolve
our political issues then beheadings or public executions.

I agree. Just imagine how scared you would be knowing that the moment you step down you are dead. Its probably why he is so reluctant. No need to hang him. Have compassion. But if this news is true, WOW I never thought this day would actually come! And right now, considering the volatile state and problems pakistan has, we probably should watch our step and not do anything that may start a fire.
LOLZ. Are you ppl believing this?
I can't be sure. I've stopped anticipating. I said "if this news is true"
What is there to aniticipate? I thought we had seen the worst scenario already! NO FEAR! RESPECT! YO! ;)
we will not let him go without any accountability
Justice needs to be done: Article six of the constituon reads:
6.
High treason.
(1)
Any person who abrogates or attempts or conspires to abrogate, subverts or attempts or conspires to subvert the Constitution by use of force or show of force or by other unconstitutional means shall be guilty of high treason.
(2)
Any person aiding or abetting the acts mentioned in clause (1) shall likewise be guilty of high treason.
(3)
[5] [Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament)] shall by law provide for the punishment of persons found guilty of high treason.

I do not believe this...I simply can't...heard too many similar stories before and they are devoid of any fruit...
When was the last time we followed the rules? If have to follow rules then why start here and with Musharraf? Only because we don't like him/he is unpopular now. If accountability is concern then must make every single person accountable. No one should be spared incl. PPP, MQM, ANP, Q or N.

Oh dear me! I am assailed here. :)
Lets see what happens but we must be careful that everything is done properly and even if he exits , its safe and does not push the country into more problems. What ever punishemnt is there according to constitution of Pakistan he should face the charges. Constitution says parliment would decide the punishment the issue must be decided by the parliment.
@ NOOR MUHAMMAD
Write the source of this news sounds unauthentic to many .Such things should not be posted
without confirmed reliable sources .WORDS LIKE HIGHLY PLACED SOURCES USED THERE ARE JUST NOT ENOUGH.
@ IOLA
Well i still can't believe that sounds like some kind of rumour to me.
@Khalifah
If the majlis e shoora the parliment decides that he should be allowed to live the country what s would be your opinion about that decision of the parliment?
If Pervaiz Mushraaf wanted to leave the country and i think he would have done that first and later announced it .
P.S ( I DON 'T STILL THINK THAT THE NEWS IS TRUE ITS JUST A RUMOUR MAY BE SOME JOURNALIST WANT TO MAKE MONEY.)
HA HA HA!
Rashid Qureshi presential spokesman denied the report . DAWN REPORTS .
come on .
Don't spread rumours around . There is some thing serious going on . I think some one want to make money in stock markets .
Khalifah is quite right...WHy Musharaf should be given safe passage??? We have to start sorting out this kind of people..So we should start it from musharaf..
BUT: Will it be enough to hang musharaf for a soverign and atonomus country??? Nope..
Becasue International establishment will find a new musharaf..They already started home work for it...You can see US senators roaming in the country and US ambassedor meeting politicians..We have to hang foreign interference..Till the time it is here..the country cant be on the way to prosperity..
Yes, but you set one decent example and no one raises their hand to be the next Musharraf
come on u all.
In my opinion, the news is not true first of all.
As Babrzam mentioned, Pakistan society is a civil society.
lets the whole game play it out.
Musharraf has done lot of good for the country....
lets be all positive about things if you want your country to get out of this mess you guys are in. Please dont blame all on your president.
Best
"Musharraf has done lot of good for the country...."
Care to name one, just one?
Well, I haven't been able to watch tv all day due to technical problems but I have heard from a source in the newspaper business that the news is true. It is said that he is under house arrest with secret talks with Kayani (I doubt that) and that he wants to be allowed to leave the country. Howeve,r it is claimed Nawaz Sharif wants him to stay and be tried here.
In anycase there should be accountability but he didn't kill Nawaz Sharif, he had him exiled. Doesn't that count? He could have had him killed but he didn't. Or maybe I just have a weak stomach.
All this may be just rumors though, but I think it is highly likely that there is some truth to it.
Lol.... I have started laughing... tears of joy running down my face..;)
Read the news Musharraf says he is not ready to resign and some vested interest want him to resign .
Rashid Qureshi his spokesman has also denied those rumours that he will resign.
THAT MYSTERY MUST END HERE . I AM LOOSING PATIENCE .WE HAVE TO WAIT TILL 10 Th June 2008 . SO LETS BE PATIENT N WAIT .
MUSHARRAF HAS TO GO HE IS NOT ELETED LEADER ANYWAY. ELECTED GOVERNMENTS SHOULD RULE THE COUNTRY AND IF THEY ARE DISMISSED AFTER 2 MONTHS ELECTION COMMISSION SHOULD HOLD NEW ELECTIONS AND CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF SHOULD NEVER NEVER TAKE OVER .PARLIMENT AND JUDICERY SHOULD NOW DECIDE WHAT LAWS CAN BE MADE TO PREVENT ANY MILITARY TAKE OVER IN FUTURE.
Ok. Taimur may rest his mind now. Its not true. Musharraf says he's just been having talks. False alarm everyone. Again.
I ROCK! :)
Khalifah is listen too much of Nawaz's speeches. Come on man!
Listen to other people too. There is a lot more to Pakistan
politics then Nawaz. He is only one player on this big arena.

Yes, the ONLY sincere player at that
Rashid Qureshi .... Do you have any idea who he is ?
Musharaf .... Words don't come easy to me to define him.

A lot of concern for the Admin and the server memory space. I am impressed. By the way what did you eat at breakfast..Well wrong question, how many humans you killed with your gun?
Timely editing Irfan Sb. !
You are easily impressed!!!! :)
MQM takes Karachi. Pakhtoons takes NWFP, Sindh PPP and Punjab Muslim league. Future of Pakistan, ( After Musharaf). Musharaf works for America and europian union, why should they throw him away from pakistani politic?
Pakistan will eventually disintegrate. I have no doubt
I disagree.

Any solid reasons for disagreement?
There is no evidence on ground that may lead to such a conclusion. What are your reasons?

You don't read the news, do you, Babar?
Almost daily
CNN (US), Daily telegraph (US), BBC & Sky (UK - twice a week at least), The News (Pak), Dawn (Pak), Aaj TV (Pak), Geo News (Pak), Al-Jazeera english (Arab), Age (Australia - once a week at least).
I have all the time in the world Khalifah & this is likely to continue
for at least 2 more months. But more then reading news I take time to discuss
issues with people on the ground i.e. my family and friends in Pakistan.
My father is a Lawyer and HR activist for 40 years now. My grand parents (mums
parents) spent most of their lives protesting on streets of Lahore (Although
this time around they are not in favor of all the agitation – in their opinion
most of this is popularity stunt because of all the active media coverage).
My optimism is based on understanding that the Nation building is not easy
job. Pakistan
has seen much worst - all of this is only another test. What we see today is
only a tip of iceberg compared to what Pakistan
has already seen and survived through. & I can proudly say that my family
has active contribution for my country/home.
I have complete faith in Pakistan & Pakistanis
