When Halla, a Lahore based dairy company launched its polypack fresh milk, it also came out with the idea os unpacked mil, which we Pakistanis are very much used to (thanks to the traditional milkmen).

Various milk outlets were opened by Halla throughout Lahore and the idea initially was a big hit among the consumers. After sometimes however, the turnout at these outlets died down slowly and the whole concept turned out to be a flop.

Milac, another dairy company has tested the same idea in Karachi and so far a number of outlets have been opened (so I have heard). I am not so sure of the viability or success of the concept, but it seems to be gaining popularity among the locals.

Let's see how far this goes in changing the consumer buying psyche in the milk category.
