Just watched the Ali G Show. Am a die hard fan of this Sacha guy!
And then what did I watch? Something even funnier.
There was this advertisement running on the television of GFC fan and you know what happens in it. Oh God, it was so funny!
Ok..umm...it's like there is a girl and the air coming from the fan blows away the dupatta and they say something like quality while she stands there like a bird. I can't stop laughing even now while I am writing this. Being a female, on principle, I am not supposed to write it but you know I was just wondering how did the fact that her dupatta flew away make it a superior fan because any fan can do that.
How do they come up with these ideas? I mean seriously! I am in awe here. Oh yes, there was this other one too.
There is a girl and a boy who both have some drink in their hand. They are standing behind a bench on which another girl and boy are sitting but they are sitting at the ends with their faces turned away from each other. Now these two who are standing decide to give them the drink to make them patch up....and lo and behold, it works. The miracle of the drink. What is the idea here? I mean I doubled up laughing. I am still amused.
Well AYM, you sure set me thinking that the quality of advertisements in Pakistan is way too low. For me, it means that some companies are not really investing in this or they don't know what kinda' message they are sending through the ads, or the advertising agencies have totally uncreative ppl sitting ova there or they have an exact idea of the audience to whom they are selling the idea.
I seriously don't know what to think but the picture of Pakistan that such ads depict is that of a largely uneducated, unimaginative and uncreative lot. Hate it!

Told you so. God knows if they're actually on drugs when they come out with these bogus ideas.
How can we then ever think of improving our international image. With marketers so bad, the only thing we can pray for is the image to stay as worst as it is.
India on the hand is taking over the whole media game at international level and it rightly deserves it.
Sometimes one wonders who actually is paying for the campaign. The company or the competitor !

what can i say? you already have decided, "Hate it !" , it prejudicial.
anyway, i think they are doing what they think appeals to females at large, and that is freedom (from every thing like work, husband, brthers, fathers, judgments ....) and females (like all men) want to have all what they want . So addvertising comp. are doing their job, (blowing away their dupattas for freedom) (showing a patchup, means things are possiable if you try).....Oh now I am from a "uneducated, unimaginative and uncreative lot"

It's just like using women for selling products, and surely (unfortunately) it helps in these interesting times.

The worst kind of advertisement is done in skin fairness ads... I mean we are racist! some really nasty racists... and I hate myself for that becasue I am part of same mentality as a society I guess...

Isn't this like,Idea generators are doing at their best level...How....!!
They know understanding level of people inhabited in Pakistan as People (Majority, not all) of Pakistan have a lower IQ and ability to understand, they can't understand complicated adds!! Creativity also depends on the environment where it have to be implemented.
By blessings of God, we deserve such things because we are contented on what is given to us. i.e ideas, orders, supplies, threats, freedom etc. We don't think/condemn on which is going wrong or implemented wrong, and can't protest as this right is not given to us , we are hijacked!!!
Following the principles of Marketing, message should be understandable and communicated to the ultimate receiver, and this is what idea generators are doing.

According to me there is an acadamic reason for this poor ad industry.
Only in pakistan we have stupid educators and planners who think that Advertisment is a part of Mass communication instead of business admin. i was shocked to learn that when my institute rejected my proposal by saing that it was related to advertisment so out of scope. Mass communication students just studty one course of marketing "principles of marketing" ...so they have limited expertise on consumer behaviar , buyer psychology and segmentation and niches..They mostly feel themselves unable to identify their target market.
IOLA: You must have seen a foolish ad of Good milk in which refregrator cant be closed without hips movement and girls dancing and drinkign milk in a jungle party as it is not milk but beer
In "Arora" last year they commented on Olpers Milk ad in which a valptous girl was on streamers and bill boards" to sexy for a milk ad" and olpers changed its campaign.
