Republicans know that they have no chance this election that is why they put up a guy who will be lucky to be alive come november let alone survive a four year term. He is a 'no risk' candidate since he has no political future to worry about. If they thought they had a real chance, then the guy who gets credited for turning the fortunes of the party, Newt Gingrich, would be running

Yes, McCain is the oldest running republican candidate but his views on foregin policies are some what main stream.
