According to BBC

Internet services have been disrupted in large parts of the Middle East
and India following damage to two undersea cables in the
Mediterranean.There was disruption to 70% of the nationwide network in
Egypt, and India suffered up to 60% disruption.UK firms such as British
Airways have told the BBC that call centres have been affected by the
outage. Industry experts said it could take up to one week to repair
the damaged cables and resume full service. 

India is the world leader in offshore outsourcing, with the remote servicing of IT or other business processes worth an estimated £24bn this downfall of the service can and will cause loss in Billions. So far the work has started to repair the cables and according to official statement it will take One week to restore and fix the fault, but the last time it happened in Pakistan it took 12 days.

South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (SEA-ME-WE 4) is an optical fibre submarine communications cable that carries telecommunications between "Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Italy, Tunisia, Algeria and France"[1]. The cable is either approximately 18 800[1] or 20 000[2] kilometres long. It provides the main internet backbone between South East Asia, the Middle East and Europe[2].
