Formula 1.....not just a race in circles...

Formula 1 is perceived to be a car race in circles.....Let me tell you it's not. In fact, no race is all about a racing, it’s about strategy, fuel-to-body mass ratio, tyre selection etc. Talking about F1, it is the richest sport generating up to $4Billion per year. The majority of the revenues come from T.V rights and nearly 600 million around the globe watch these automobile wonders journey around the world on different race tracks. The other source of revenues is sponsorships and contributions from partners and owners. F1 racing also involves huge investments by participating teams which can spend up to $300-$400 million a year on R & D costs, drivers’ practices and car modification. The interesting thing to share is that these races are misperceived by some as cars moving on an empty road. That’s not true, the F1 cars are build to perfection which produces an immense down force and speeds capable of reaching 320 km/h. There is traction control, a state of the art braking system, the aerodynamics of the car, in short to me an F1 car is no less than a jet plane. Team strategy is important for every race. Teams geared with some very technical aspects of mechanics, physics, electronics and auto craft team up to produce ground breaking technology and winnings (of course). Some of the teams are,
- Ferrari
- Mclaren-Mercedes
- BMW Sauber
- Renault
- STR Ferrari
- Toyota
- Honda
- Red Bull- Renault
- Williams- Toyota
These teams have join forces with other companies like Vodafone, Panasonic, ING, Mubadala, Acer, AT & T, Bridgestone, Lenovo, Intel, RBS etc to form a combination of minds with money and technology. The point I’m trying to make is that F1 combines the essence of racing, enterprising, marketing, engineering and revenue generating.

man we need to have an F1 circuit here in Pakistan! Hell potential to attract tourism.
Very difficult......it requires huge investments.....in order to initiate a true racing culture we should have a karting circuits around Pakistan.
I understand the investment part.. where did the 'true racing culture' come in to have F1 in Pakistan?
We have drag racing in Pakistan...i'm talking about that road racing on ordinary modified cars.....we don't have the infrastructure for racing.....any car race start from go karting cars......then there are a number of races to comply with in order to be an F1 driver....not to forget watching an F1 race ain't cheap....it in our terms will cost a fortune.....and do you know India is hosting F1 in 2009?
No I dint know that.. but they have their own team.
So there are restrictions on a country for having a circuit?
That doesnot matter.....india has invested heavily in establishing racing circiuts.....and as far as i know they have some 20 car racing events for cars like suzuki swift etc etc.....the point is they are doing exceptionally well....they have a superb A1 GP team......we also have that but we have scored only One single point in three seasons......the point is F1 is a far fledge dream.....it's like dreaming of organizing olympics in Pakistan.....
Let me dream man :) its Bahrain for me next year inshallah!
wahan to u can watch it.....14-17 April.....
I always wanted to write on this. Great post ENK.
