Formal Clothing requirement....why only for men ?

Formal Clothing requirement....why only for men ?

why in countries like pakistan, india and others there is a formal clothing requirement for men only. i mean dont women want equal rights and treatment? i work in an audit firm where men cannot even fold their sleeves, have to wear a tie and buttoned up all the times. even the colours of shirts are limited. the same case is in banks and MNC's.

but the women can wear their normal stuff.. shalwar kameez, fancy colours, sandals etc. no dress code for them.

the issue needs to be seen from another angle. its not about "make women wear fromal as well because im angry blah blah" because personally i dont really care infact its good to see females dressed up in all colorful and nice clothes. its pleasing to the eyes and adds some color to the otherwise monotonus and boring fest of suits and boots.

the question is that does a strict formal dress code has any effect on the quality of work, professinallism, efficeincy etc? if women dont have to wear formal and yet they are doing the work as good as men then it shows that a fromal dress code does nothing. so why are men supposed to follow such a rigourous dress code if it has no effect on quality of work, professionalism and efficeincy. or would you say that women are not as efficeinct as men? it has to be one of 2 conclusions.

so lets discuss this issue

You are talking of Formal Clothing for Women/Girls. Yesterday I went to Schlumberger (A Multinational Company) office in Islamabad. There was hardly much clothing.

I dont know where you are working. In my office, we have strict instructions on dress code which covers everything (color, texture, makeup, sandals, jewellery etc etc).

im talking abt pakistan. in a handful of organizations they may have a so called "dress code for female employees". but its so loose that they can usually get away with wearing their normal stuff. its nowhere as strict as that for men

irfanzafar

the male bosses would be stupid to enforce a formal dress code for women then. i mean which straight man wouldnt want to be surrounded by sexily dressed females. lol

by the way what do you know...maybe thats the dress code for women over there !

oh sorry I didn't realize that I am not in Pakistan :)

umair: i agree...there is no formal dress for them..why? because the bosses dont want to lose " the sight" ...plz visit HSBC Lahore, SCB tufail road, Unilever Avari towers karachi or IBM shahar-e-faisal....all the restrictions are for male staff...they cant dress leisurely, they cant smoke....

Sophi: you are taliban ...afghanistan pakistan ka hissa nahi hai

Let everyone wear/or not wear whatever they want. Individual Freedom

astaghfirullah.......who says they cant EVEN smoke? All chain smokers line up in stairs..Go and check then out!

You dint need to check all other offices if you do have well dressed ladies at your own. See mianjee! wandering here and there

hahah...o mera kaam hee yahi hai (larkian tarna nahi, i am in marketing ) ...

when the thurki bosses can arrange a ladies refreshing room then why they dont spare a room for male smokers or just for rest(retiering room) ? jaisay aurat aurat ki wairee hoti hai aisay hee males main bhee hai...

Once we put a request to our boss to arrange a prayer room for females and his reply was; "And who will go there to wake them up?" We dont have a prayer room here in such a multistorey building but we live in an Islamic State.....gosh

We should have one common room in every office with small partitionings so that Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Budhists etc can pray. This will also create religious harmony

doc : then we should open teh offices on sunday so the christions can pray...

what do you classify as a formal dress for women ? a skirt ?

Baig: "why in countries like pakistan, india and others there is a formal
clothing requirement for men only. i mean dont women want equal rights
and treatment?"

Simple answer!!

If we men are left to do things our way we will go to work stinking like dogs. Women, no matter what, will always wear nice cloths and put perfumes. While we will go wearing Bermuda shorts and without washing face or even brushing hair n teeth.

Accept it dude, we are such creatures :) We need forced hygiene.

Formal dress code for women in Pakistan.

1: Can someone also give some suggestions what the dress code can be? Because I assume the clothes they wear, which would be shalwar kameez, is not being classified as formal clothing. So, if there is any other option for women working in offices in Pakistan, please suggest.

2: Women dressed up NEATLY in Shalwar kameez in itself a formal piece of clothing in Pakistan.

3: If a woman wears trousers/skirt in an office environment(or even casually) we consider tham as having bad character.

How do we please everyone here...?

- doc : then we should open teh offices on sunday so the christions can pray... I mean on holidays, everyone prays at home. There is no need of opening the offices for praying only.

- Women, no matter what, will always wear nice cloths and put perfumes.... I Disagree. Not every women.

- what do you classify as a formal dress for women ? a skirt ?.... NO. A Mini-Skirt is much more formal
- Can someone also give some suggestions.... Wear whatever you want. Why bother

- If a woman wears trousers/skirt in an office environment(or even casually) we consider tham as having bad character.... Credit goes to our taboos infested/infected society

- How do we please everyone here...?  .... Live for yourself not others

Kunwal: do as romans do, when you are in rome..in every society certain things should be followed...moreover formal dressing is not  to please any one...it is just to formalize the evnoirnment...for women in corporate at least blazer(coat) should be a requirement( i dont know what women say it)..it will make them formal...moreover about shoes and the shalwars above ankels liek tableeghi jamat should be considered.

gals dont listen mianjee...do whatever you want to. Do we gals ever say how much you guys look odd in orange, red, yellow and maroon shirts? Or how much you look clumsy when you put tie on big check shirts.

yeh koan chawal ha jo check per bhee knot lagata hai ? yellow , maroon green shirts to main nay sirf apnay christion bhaion kay 25 december pay hee daikhee hain

damn.. the bright yellow shirt that I have.. and the orage coloured bow tie that I normally wear.. they dont go too?

Not only your yellow and orange shirts would work but kids would also run after you calling you 'paddle pop' :)

thank god I have stopped using that  butterfly t-shirt.. I have grown up now na :p

- I have grown up now .... Have You :-)

of course I have grown up now.. now I have Dinosour on my shirt!

Why dont you try shirts with wrestlers' pics?

Irfan: dont worry.. ladies spit fire too.

Upto you ;p

- ladies spit fire too...... Cold Fire
