Florida: Companies ban smoking in private lives.
submitted 1 year 15 hours ago by: AngryYoungMan : 1 commentI just heard a news on TV last night that companies in Florida have started imposing a ban on smoking by workers even in their private lives. Surprising as it may be, but it is a fact.
Many companies have stopped hiring smokers and have explicitly asked their current employees to quit smoking before they fire them. If anyone found smoking even in his or her private home, can and will be fired from the job.
While a lot of us may think that it's discriminatory, but companies are saying that all this is done in a good faith and is best for their employees and potential employees in general.
I just wish something like this could also be implimented here in Pakistan. We desperately need such law to curb growing pollution in our country.

Companies are responsible for paying healthcare costs for their workers . Unhealthy workers equate to higher insurance premiums as well as the added expense of 'paid leave' for the sick employee.
So the equation is simple and necessary.
