A few good men
submitted 9 months 25 days 14 hours ago by: amersarfraz : 20 commentsI am posting a blog after a long time, but something worth sharing happened
with me and here I am.
Last night, I went to see a friend (i love them all) at his place and as we
were chatting his sister came inside the room and asked him to bring a
ice-cream pack for the guests that were visiting. My friend was busy with some
phone call and asked me to buy one right outside the apartment boundary wall
(we're talking about Askari Apartments on Sarfraz
Rafiqui Road in Lahore).
So I walked to the place which was approx. 5 minutes walk and got the
ice-cream. Brought it back to my friend's place and everything went on as
normal. We chatted, got my notebook and desktop computer fixed by him (he is
too good with computers and I normally give him the honour of fixing mine).
At about 11:45 pm (almost midnight) I drove back home, changed my clothes
and got ready for bed. As I was changing my clothes, I reached out to the back
pocket of my jeans to take out my wallet and it wasn't there. I thought I had
already placed it somewhere on my rack or in my cupboard (as I usually do), but
did not bother to confirm it. Anyway, I went to sleep.
In the morning as I woke up and got ready for my office, I realized
that the wallet was missing and I could not find it anywhere in the room. I got
a bit panicked but thought it might be down there in my car. When I got down,
surprise surprise….. nothing in the car.
I got in my car and instead of going to the office, drove casually to my
friend’s place, thinking if it was misplaced, there is no point getting
panicked and I should rather take it easy now (or so I wanted to believe !!)
Finally I reached his place and woke him up from his wonderful sleep (must
be cursing me for having done this). Anyway, we both searched his place and no
success. The only place left now was the shop itself.
It was 9:15 am by that time and I
was wondering if the shop would be open by now or not. I started walking
towards to shop anyway, thinking if it would even be worth doing this exercise.
As I approached the shop, I was relieved to see it open. I went inside and
asked the guy if I left my wallet here last night and gave him the reference of
the ice-cream and he immediately produced the wallet from his drawer and gave
it to me, saying that he went looking for me last night but I had already gone.
I felt so good about him being a Pakistani and I being his fellow citizen.
There are still good people here and there are rays of hope in this dense cloud
of materialism an selfishness. I just wish we have more of them.

How much money did you have in there?
Can't help it I 'm a sceptic at heart when it comes to believing that Pakistani's have a capacity to do good
ppl plz help me, can i commit an online murder?????
By all means...go ahead !!
I bestow you with the LTK (License to Kill).
Why would you want to kill the poor shop owner, Pink Pathan?
Khalifah, do you do it on purpose or is it intrinsic? Whatever the case, I pity you.
A wise man once said, "A pessimist is a person who feels bad when he feels good for fear that he'll feel worse when he feels better." You sound like 'that' person.
@ amersarfraz
Thanks for this wonderful post. I'm proud of that fellow, and more proud to be a Pakistani :)
An even wiser man replied to the aforementioned wise man
"Nothing is more sickening that a perpetually optimistic person specially where the optimism borders on naivety"
Khlifah
I don't know what went wrong with you here in Pakistan, but something terrible did happen I believe. OR IS IT A DREAM !!
Whatever it is, please share it hear with us and you'll feel better. I have heard from psychologists that if something is bothering you, you better take it out and share it with someone and you'll start feeling good. So do it bro, come out with all your hidden fears and we'll be all ears. Aren't we all good listeners (or rather good readers) folks ??
And about the wallet, it had Rs.4,600 and two credit cards and you must be well aware that making a transaction on the credit card is not an issue. No one cares to check the ID or verify the card holder. Hence proved, he was an honest man and a good Pakistani, something which should surely sound alien to you.
This is a really bitter pill to swallow; I had almost given up on that species but I suppose mutations happen. Damn Chernobyl, its effects are still apparent, apparently
@Marium, Pinki, Amer,
Why dont we make a fact finding commission who will search for the facts that why khalifah is so depressing and pessimistic about pakistanies and pakistan?
As he is a male so we cant assume that he suffered with some thing like BALATKAR etc in pakistan...but we should think on the lines that may be he was robbed or beaten by police or his land was occupide by some molvie or may be a molvi tried to nullify his EMAN or Nikkah.....Or may be some police man did hit him on his head so his patriotism and optimisn lost :) :)
Commission should also watch for the fact that nowadays if a person have nothing to do he becomes an intelectual or teacher.... may be khalifah is suffering with that syndrom as well.
Khalifah : dont think me bad , yar i am trying to help you out.... most of the psychopaths dont know that they are suffering with some psychological disorder.
Dr Irfan Zafar: please help us out if you are not a doctor like allama iqbal.... .
i don't think i care much about the American opinion abt us.....they r living in their own colourful world totally indifferent to our plight but still spare some time to laugh at our miseries...
anyway ppl,we discuss all the serious issues we face, y not we use this forum to share our wonderful experiences in our beloved Pakistan.....
here is my true story...last summer i was having driving classes just to while away time....me n my female driving instructor were driving through G-11/2 Islamabad (a part of it is still barren) when all of a sudden the car came to an abrupt halt...sth was the matter with a front tyre...i was xtremely worried (i wasn't used to travelling without my family), not even a single human being was around n my feeble instructor was having trouble with the jack.....i was saying all the prayers i could recall.....n there came an angel...a taxi-driver to b exact...in the scorching heat of june,he toiled for 18 minutes to replace the tyre.....i had just 200 rupees with me, i offered him that meagre sum as a token of gratitude(pepsi tu aa he jati na) but he declined n went away....
i repeat it was blistering hot...temprature was in mid 40 degrees celsius....y did he stopped to help us??? y he wasted his time n energy for nothing? y dint he accepted the money which was being offered to him????
i don't know the answers to these questions but i do know one thing i won't have stopped to help some strangers (to b very honest)....so while i m a little ashamed of my countrymen who tease ppl on the roads, i m xtremely proud of the ppl (especially pedestrians) who help u when u r in serious trouble(aap logo ne aksar daikha ho ga shopkeepers or pedestrians ko kharab gaari ko dhakka lagatay hoey)
Mianjee, Marium, Amer and Pink Pathan apparently you stand united but even as there is strength in numbers let me state that in the case of the intellect numbers don't matter especially if we are dealing with minds devoid of wisdom in which case the heads are counted on the left side of the number line.
Pink Pathan would that guy have stopped if there were two guys trying to change a tire? He probably did that because there were two females involved and specially since one of the females happens to be an out of this world beauty, judging from her own description
well thnx aristotle, this xplanation never occurred to me....but i maintain i wont have stopped even if the most attractive specimen of opposite sex(paul walker for example) had been in distress (given the harsh conditions)...
n i only said that u won't b able to distinguish between pathan women n ur american ones n i m half-pathan......though judging by ur remarks, i deduce that u set much store by them(american ones) (a mere comparison with them elevated us in ur high esteem)....i take my words back..majority of Pakistani women r betterlooking than american ones as their beauty is amplified by the innocence they retain....
n thnx for acknowledging our widom level, even if it is in negative figures...i m sorry to b impolite but i can't even return this compliment
ps: friends ignore this american interference, its their second nature to do that... keep the good stuff coming
I totally agree with you, I have a very beautiful Pakistani wife. NO arguments there
chalo aaj bhabhi nay bacha liya......God bless her
thank God
HAHAH khalifah,
you yourself stopped at a female like that taxi driver :)
There are still alot of people who believe in all the good virtues which are more or less found in books or lectured by teachers. Why are we always so sarcastic if we hear about some one doing some thing good in Pakistan. If we don't own our country then who will own us. I believe that instead if blaming others or commenting on whats wrong we should try to change ourselves.
As Pinky narrated her experience that out of the blue a Taxi driver turned up and helped her I am sure that next time when she sees someone in trouble she would definately reach out to that individual.Secondly if we don't cling to our past negetive experiences and learn to forgive others we can move on in our life with an optimistic approach. We shoulg learn to see positive aspects of things (although it is very diificult most of thetime and sounds good only in writing but still we can.)I am not a philospher, or a psychologist , I am a very common person whos sahring her own experiences.
Waise KHALIFAH is always succesful in getting all the attention...wherever he posts AND I am sure if he stops posting on Buzzvines we all would be VERY WORRIED about him and would immediately call Rescuee 1122 to locate him.
@Khalifah
Because all the members are seriously concerned about your mental health, please GET WELL SOON
@ Sadia:
You seem impressed by LAGAY RAHO MUNNA BHAI: kia khayal hai khalifah ko phool bhaija karain??
@mianjee
Hahaha ...good one....waise I haven't seen the movie but will do. Well in any case it is again Khalifah who is the center of attraction.
