Do we deserve to be called Muslims?
submitted 8 months 24 days 8 hours ago by: TheSophisticated : 25 commentsCan a true practicing Muslim think to attack on anyone or on funeral? Who are these people? And what they want? Why do they need blood of innocent people to fulfill their own means? These are the questions that struck my mind when I heard about Mingora’s recent Suicide Bomb blast. It is learnt that the suicide terrorists targeted the funeral of DSP Javed Iqbal who was killed in another attack earlier. More than 50 people were killed and 70 injured in this attack. Some weeks before, I was thinking that these bomb blasts have become a part of our daily life. To hear about any bomb blast and its resulting causalities, was not a big deal for me. I did not get shocked to watch or hear about such news. I thought, at that time, these continuous news became me selfish and expressionless. But I do admit that it was very difficult to me to see and even hear about this bomb blast yesterday. Perhaps it’s been long, we did not hear about such a big blast or it’s a new trick of suicide bombers to attack the funeral. Blood on road and on the nearby buildings were showing the brutality of bomb. Mingora is not having reasonable medical facilities. It is agonizing to imagine how these critically injured people are bearing their wounds. The young son of the martyred DSP who came to shoulder his father to his last journey had to go with him. What a great grief for the victim families. May Allah give them Sabr and the souls of all the martyred may rest in peace.

After looking at pictures of policemen beating up on civilians since the day Pakistan came into existence, I think this was long overdue
It is, in the end, the army and the police who enforce oppression and as such they should face the consequences of their actions
Is this the right course of action? NO but when people have no recource from law they inadvertently take the law into their own hands
when these suicide bombers desecrate Mosques, i m sure these animals won't have thought twice abt a funeral
khalifah y r u so bitter abt police???? most of them r bad but wat abt the good ones,,are they not the unsung heroes???? if u devote ur time n space to the corrupt ones please make sure to do justice to the honest ones..they maybe in minority but they r there.....
the reason of my partiality towards them??? someone real close to me is an honest police officer ....i m as fond of them as a mother is of her sick child
Of course then there are also robbers, theives and murders who are kind hearted
Tell me where does this person "close to you" live? Does he own a house and a car? Can he really, given his salary afford these?
These are just hypothetical questions, maybe he does live within his means but even if he is a 'top dog' in police, based on the current salary structure, he should not be making enough money (honestly) to afford to buy a house and a car.
khalifa bhayi i really dint wanted to share this piece of information over here but that person is my dad.....n he doesn't own any house, plot anywhere on this planet, God is my witness as i type this down....the reason we r well off : my grand parents are landlords( now plz don't start on them)
but thats precisely y he is so honest, his strong financial background helped him resist temptations......
"based on the current salary structure, he should not be making enough money (honestly) to afford to buy a house and a car."so u do kinda admit that their salaries r pathetic
n u dint responded to my challenge...help me in making a budget(for necessities only)for a salary of Rs6000-7000....assume a joint family system....the constable has 4 kids living with parents n two unmarried sisters( based on my observation) .....count those electricity bills n kitchen expense but assume education for kids as luxury don't count it,,xclude health as well(poor ppl r very resilient, aren't they??they live for 100 years)......
i have a degree in economics but i failed....let us see how u perform
I did say those were hypothetical situations.
The question is why did he choose that profession and more so why did he stay in it if it was clear to him that change is not possible from within. Does he raise his voice against police brutality?
When people already know how much a cop's job pays, then why do they take it and if they take it why don't they use it as a stepping stone for something better?
As for your budgetary endeavours, lets have all family members contribute towards the finances of the family.
1. The women can start some type of home business such as sewing or catering. Or if they are qualified they can enter the workforce
2. They can stop after the first child and not aim for four if they know their finances do not allow four children
3. The men can try to educate themselves and improve their chances of getting better jobs
4. The men can try working two jobs
I mean, when there is a will there is a way, unless it's Allah's will to test them with poverty.
Now its true that when you are in a difficult situation its hard to make tough decisions that are well thought out but this is where family (especially the more well off ones) have a role to play via financial assistance or otherwise
All of the above do require breaking away from social taboos as to what is an acceptable profession based on your lineage as there should be no shame in manual labor or any other form of 'menial' labour
10/10
i m sure ab un ka guzara ho jaye ga
y dint i met u before????i was losing my calm over an issue which had such a straight-forward solution...my friends R right..i AM tention creator
Let me analyze both of yours views:
Pinky’s views:- That the police department is the corrupted department but it also has some honest police officers too. -According to her, lack of facilities and low incomes are held responsible for their corruption.
Khalifa’s:-These police officers and military men deserve the suicide attacks, as it is the retaliation for what they have done to common masses (shelling and beating the innocent people). -All police officers are corrupted. And everyone joins police department just to earn mean. -It is now clear that “change is not possible from within”. So no one should staty in police department now. -Instead of doing corruption, they should search out some other mean of earning. Other family members should also assist in it.
@ Khalifa In any case, how much the police department is corrputed, we do need a civil security system. I know they are failed in maintaining the law and order but we have no alternate choice. Change is possible and persons like her father could bring this change.
I don’t think the policemen have such time to join part time jobs due to their untimely duties.
In my own opinion, it would be so harsh and in human if I say acha hua maray bomb blast mai As you sow so shall you reap. I am against the corruption and the brutality of the police department not against the police department itself. I think this department desprately needs a revolutionary change.
sophisticated...,,u passed an honest verdict over here....n police is more dear to me then my ego.....so i take my words back over that issue abt my childishness, no offence meant......
let us do sth abt their salaries....CSP's are ok they don't need increment but the lower level officialsi.e from Dsp downwards need monetary help...part-time is not allowed,,"no affiliation with any private or public organization"sth like that...besides its a full-time job in country like ours..no holidays nothing...so even small scale business is not an option n Govt isn't willing to divert resources from defence...what to do? i will drown in my despair n die
lol...........what should I say about such a sweetish kiddish behaviour :p .It means if I disagree with you, meri tumhari katti and I will be your frd in other case.
Listen Pinky dear! if I am against your views, it doesn't mean I am against YOU. It was just a discussion and ppl happen to agree and disagree with each other.
Anyways, I apologize if I hurt you. Cheer up now baby :)
may i take the liberty of calling u "ish"......(childish,sweetish,kiddish)
u see, sophisticated is a bit lenghty name, exhausts my slender fingers
lol.......I never mind if its' easy for you to write. I am also regretting on this id which was actually my friend's suggestion its lengthy for me too to log in :/ . Iits not at all problem with me if u replace 'A' with 'i'
Anyways, ye uss name se tu chota hi hai ju Khalifa ne mera rakha hua hai
kia naam rakha hai barray mian ne????
un ne mera bhi rakha hai pink pathan...koi baat nahin bazurgo ka haq hota hai :)
The answer is grassroot neighborhood watch groups. These will have the added benefit of bringing the neighbors closer and help them assist each other in other endeavors as well. Maybe this type of cooperation is only possible in the West but its worth a shot. Anything but the status quo
This is not a small breach so there is no need to stand with a finger in the dyke (no pun intended), we have to rebuild from scratch
@ PINKY
I do not exactly know about the salries of DSP and CSPs or SHOs etc. But I think in Pakistan's case of consistent price rising, each and every employee needs increments. (Specially poor employees like me who work wholeheartedly, need special incentives.)
For police officers, I recommend 'a revision of pay scale'. It would be a best suited option as the whole department will be benefitted in real terms. But this revision should keep more effective for the low scale emplyees as higher grade officers are already snatching more than they deserve.
@ Khalifa
As far as my tiny knowledge is concerned, you are talking about the Neighbourhood Watch Security Groups which were practiced in 70s in North America. But I dont know much about it and how much and how far it was succeeded. You have already said that "this type of cooperation is only possible in the West" then why are you recommending it here?
Is it stll in practiced? And what were its Pros?
We have the example of Motorway Police and Traffic Wardens. Both departments are ranked at zero corruption. I heard a traffic warden saying that he doesn't need to accept bribes as he is getting handsome salary.
You missed my point. In America if the government fails to deliver or if there is an impression of that, then people take it upon themselves to make a difference
I might miss it but my question was "how much and how far theses Neighbourhood Watch Security Groups have succeeded in USA? And could we implement these in Pak?
o hello: why do you people take the business of Dehli to Multan ? bat started from Suicide bombing and still stuck at salaries: Pinki and Khalifah mostly do DUST-O GEERAYBAN" and then come to solution and most of the time both are right on their place. Pinki has an association with police and khalifah has his own veiws...
We should deal with them according to their nature and behavier....If some one is good then he should receive a good behav...Once i embrace a policeman on eid and he was literlly going to cry becasue he was away from his family and i was the 1st to give him eid greetings. The good ones need love and care of society...otherwise they will get it with abuse of their power. then we will be forced to respect them.
PLEASE NOTE THAT:
i have no romance or association with police other then that in my student politics i was beaton by police 4 times in public . Once bitterlly baton charges at mall road during a student rally which was against fee increases..Once caught in anti govt march in 1997 and detained for 7 days at lockup...but still i feel them human being.
shoooo shweeet off uuuu......
i never said ALL of them r good i just emphasize that not ALL of them r evil....do censure the bad ones they deserve it....but in the same breath appreciate the good honest ones who r fighting not only terrorists but the internal(departmental) n xternal pressure.....
TAIMUR .
Actually we don't deserve to be called muslims but we are born muslims read the kalima and thats the mercy of ALLAH.We deserve nothing its just the biggest favour of ALLAH on us that we are muslims and the rest of the people living in the world are doing shirk .
No one is Muslim by birth; only through their actions
The Prophet (PBUH) said:“Each child is born in a state of Fitrah. Then his parents make him a Jew, Christian or a Zoroastrian.” (Saheeh al-Bukhari)
Fitrah means a true faith of Islam i.e. to worship none but Allah Alone. We believe that Allah has created us. The religion before Allah is not other than Islam. Then how it is possible that He creates his creature in another state?
The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) also reported that God said:“I created my servants in the right religion, but devils made them go astray.” (Saheeh Muslim)
It is clearly mentioned in both the ahadieth that a kid is innocent and born of Fitrah, a true faith that is Islam. It is his parents who make him follow other religions.
And yes his actions also show his religion but Satan is there to mislead him but it does not mean that he did not born of Fitrah.
We are born with the 'criterion to judge between wrong and right'.
Islam is a realization, nirvana, that must be attained and it is not innate. Being a muslim is a choice that we are to make; not a choice that will be made on our behalf
Absolutely true Khalifa..
We have to distinguish between the brand Islam and the generic Islam.. submission to God. We are born in the former..we have to opt for the latter...
I think there is nothing left for clarification.
