Well this gadget DataTraveler is commonly used these days. Everyone has one, two or even three in the pocket/purse if I am not wrong. Kingston is the inventor to my knowledge. I remember I have purchased Kingston DataTraveler (1GB) for PKR 2200/- one year back. It was lost somehow so I got another brand new but the price was low this time. It took PKR 1400/- for the same device. It has performed very well for me.
While backing up the data yesterday, on the day end, it suddenly stopped working! I thought my PC has some problem so tried on several computers but that drive didn’t work. I am sure it has died! I have lost some important files which were deleted after copying on the DataTraveler & I am trying to recover it now.
Just wanted to share the incident & want to suggest some tips:
Empty Recycle Bin (on day end) & think twice before clicking on ‘Yes’
Don’t delete the data from HD until you move it successfully using DataTravelers
Don’t relay only on DataTravelers
There are several brands in the market, try those as well (Kingston is not alone now)
Don’t leave data on these Thumb Drives as they are easily lost/theft
Your suggestions/tips are useful for everyone, so don’t hesitate please…..

Well, you missed the most important thing, these pin drives are virus prone! Most of the computers get infected with viruses through these DataTravelers!
- About losing DataTraveler: My friend has a pin drive and it's password protected. When it's plugged in the computer, you are prompt with a login window. So, no one can open the files until he/she gets the login information right! That was really cool!
Thanks for your comment Aqeel Ahmad,
Yes I forgot to mention the fact you have mentioned. These drives are virus carriers & they deliver viruses very easily and safely to computers :-).
Please let me know the brand & price of your friend's pin/pen drive.
And please correct me is this pin or pen?
Thumbdrives are not virus prone, its windows OS thats virus prone thats why I always scan my thumbdrives in Linux b4 plugging into windows
