IF you are living in pakistan and didnt visit the desert cholistan then you have missed a beauty.
Cholistan is a desert spread fort abbas to kot sabzal(all along BWP division) and it is seprated by border, on indian side it is called rajhistan.
In cholsitan desert , abbasies the Ex-ruler of Bahwalpur state have many monoments like Derwar fort, Masjid Sadiq, Abbasi graveyard , Tomb Hazrat Chunnan. In bahwalpur city they have Noor Mahal, Dubai Mahal and many other buildings which are nowadays occupide by rangers. These all monoments are worth seeing.
The desert shows its beauty at dawn and dusk.
Plan your journy to Ahmed pur east (near BWP) and visit DERA NAWAB SAHIB which was home of Nawab Sadiq Khan Abbasi, A stunning building.. 23 Km from Dera Nawab Sahib there is situated Derwar fort.
Derwar fort is the only fort in world built with curves due to sand. adjucent Graveyard and Msjid Sadiq have their own beauty.
Drawer is getting depressiated day by day beacsue neither abbassies nor our govt is looking after that treasure..
Dont visit it in summer....April and November are the best months to visit it.

Have seen all that. :)
In fact have seen the entire southern Punjab. Love the rural landscape. Seems so lost and yet true depiction of village life in Pakistan.
fear of snakes n big lizards prevent me frm enjoying the desert scenery...i spend more time looking down than up.....
No such thing there as far as the eye can see. :)
IOLA,
its great...i am happy to learn that someone has interest in that beauty...How did you visit that? With family or class mates?
PINKI : deserts have their own monsters but its not like that as they show in movies. the reptalians are more afraid of us than we are of them :) .
For professional reasons actually.
Thank you for taking an interest. :)
Wow! It is indeed a picturesque shot and after havin googled it, i have come across such vivid and breath-taking descriptions that i aspire to visit it...r u in the tourism or marketing industry, mianjee? :)
Hawa:
I am not, though i had a passion for it . currently i am in freight forwarding/logistics. If i got enough resources i will work to boost tourism in that area. Though govt started a JEEP SAfari in cholistan but the facilities are not enough. They are unable to facilitate the visitors.PTDC never helped us to work on this sector.
Mianjee - why did the PTDC not facilitate? Oh and can recommend any other major tourist sites of interest in Pakistan? I am sure u would take the industry by storm seeing as u have such an evident and ardent passion for it!!!!!
Inshallah, I hope that ur aspirations materialize and i wish u the utmost best in ur endeavours =o]
hawa:
That will be a long list. It depneds on the visitor's taste. That places can be in hilly areas, desert areas, coastal areas and in plains.
India is earning alot through tourism but on our side it is just restricted to seminars and confrences.
I would love to explore this desert. For all I know now about Cholistan
is the desert rally that is organized there every year and is sponsored
by RedBull Pakistan :)
If a few bloggers decide to explore it then i can help you out...but it should be in october novemeber otherwise we will be roasted there :)
If you want to go on your own then plan your journy upto ahmed pur east...Arrive at night..in morning visit DERA NAWAB SAHIB then leave for Derawaer fort. Spend evening there and around ASAR leave fort to Peer Channan on camels..In night come back to Ahmed Pur and next day visit BWP Noor Mehal....If want a long tour of desert then visit other remainings of abbassies.
Inshallah, i will keep that in mind and definitely make a point to visit the route u have described when i travel that side, mianjee...
Hawa:
Le me know then ..i will suggest you some more places of that area according to your available time... As fort minro, Patan Minara, etc
Mianjee - Inshallah, I will do just that sooner to the time i'll be due to visit...thank u v.much for assisting in making my adjacent travel most memorable...
