Banning Cellular Phones!

The government of Punjab has recently imposed a ban on the usage of cell phones in all educational institutions in the province. The decision was taken after receiving complaints about the misuse of cell phones on campuses.
This rule is understandable as far as schools are concerned. But when applied to universities and colleges, I personally feel that banning the use of cell phones would not help in any way. Aren’t college/university students mature enough to possess the ability to decide for themselves what is right and what is not? The area that needs extreme attention here is that the students and teachers should be disciplined enough to know the proper etiquette and they should also, in their own capacity be able to determine when and when not to use their mobile phones.
Undoubtedly, there should be certain rules and regulations. Cell phones should necessarily be switched off during classes and lectures.
Moreover, I honestly believe, if the teachers are watchful and alert in class no student will dare to use a cell phone. Certainly, those who do should be fined heavily.
Can’t 'we' be responsible enough to stop misusing gadgets? Why ban the technology?

ban on usage of mobile phones in universities and colleges shows the ignorance of Govt. towards technology and its usage. so sad.
Another vital question which arises here is, how will they make sure that the rule is being implemented and followed by everyone? Will there be daily bag checking sessions for the (university/college) students or will the government of Punjab provide the educational institutions with metal detector walk-throughs?
yar in my university its being implemented... there z daily bag cheking session at gate in the morning by Dr Suriya and head galz.... and some rumor, i ve listend that some quotation for detectorz has also sent... most funny and horrible thing z that v, the students of M-phil, are also not allowd to bring cellz with us....no seriosue step has been taken against us but has just listend about.. anyways ... lets c wht will b the next episode... may b v ve to put cellz in the office daily... then get them at next day or request our management that plz do some arrangement to send our cellz to our living places in the evening... lolz ( waiting for the next scene...)

Interesting. You know, even I caught a glimpse of something like a metal detector in the hands of our college gatekeeper! This is funny :D
most pathetic incident happend in our university.... yesterday when i went university after few days, i came to know about this sad incident.... infact i cnt understand who is responsible for all that.... teacher or student.... anyways it startz from gate... detector detected the cell fone to some girl but when her bag wz checkd there wz no cell... so teacher said to her give me cell where ever u had put it... she refused... and said sorry i dnt have... teacher wz shouting at her and using rubish wordz for her... the girl didnt say anything just keep quite and say sorry i dnt have...(DHATAI) then teacher started to check her in a humiliated way in front of the gate.... suddenly the girl slapped the teacher.... this wz the very pathatic situation ... anyways teacher said to her that she z gonna expell her, but the student warned the teacher that if i will expell then u will also not be here.... anyways whtz the scene, no action against her....
both the teacher and student are in university.... who z responsible for all that....
z the student who try to break the rules? r teacher who just forget about ethical issues and about her own level...? z such a behave suited her...? off course both of them r responsible... but still i m thinking that teacher z more responsible...
