BALOCHISTAN: A BURNING PROVINCE
submitted 10 months 3 days 23 hours ago by: mianjee : 24 comments
Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan according to area. The province has a strategic importance because of Gawader port, Minerals and geography. Since the establishment of port gawader the gulf states are in trouble because the importance of Dubai port will be coming to an end in trans-shipments.
Gawader port is a deep port of our region so mother vessel(container carrier of 4000 ,5000 containers) can lodge easily in this port. In case of Dubai and Bunder abbas port of Iran, both ports are not in deep water so Mother vessel lodges in deep sea and feeder vessels feed it and offload it. It will save the cost of shipping lines so they will shift to Gawader port.Iran has a problem because their Bunder abbas port will be in trouble.
Moreover if drilling for oil started in Balochistan, it will drain out the oil of iranian side as well because iran is on higher altitude.USA has a problem because gawader port is nearest to world sea route and pakistan has given it's contract to Chinese-Singaporean company which will be a problem for USA. If US gets control of this port it will serve its two purposes majority, One is control of sea route so US will eb able to halt Iranian Oil tankers as well, 2ndly US can have an alternate Supply chain route for its forces via Chaman afghan border. All our govts since the time of Ayub khan, exploited the rights of smaller province. Ayub khan gifted 60 Square KM area to iran to save their Oil drainage at our side(we are getting subside oil in return). This decision was a bull shit thrown on locals. Mr Bhutto Dissolved Mehmood Achakzai's Govt and asked for army oepration, This widen our differences. It seems that Mr Bhutto had not learnt a lesson from Dhaka Fall 1971.
Mr Zia was political son of Mr Bhutto and he also kept pressure on Balochees, arrested , killed. The province which is giving us natural gas since last 40 years, our center didnt allowed usage of Gas there. 97% of balochistan population is not having gas connection. In gawader port employment share of baloches is not defined. In army they cant apply because of lower literacy rate(male literacy rate is 37%). This criteria should be decreased as Madrassi people are short in height but india is inducting them for other cores like medical, education and supply. In Musharaf era they were exploited badly, Musharaf regime allotted coastal area of gawader to other favorites which made an other issue. Sardari nizam of balochistan is a curse. sardar doesn’t allow the people to go for studies because the literate people challenge this fuedalism (though Akbar Bugti was a oxfordian) Atta Mengal and Hasil Bazinju are also foreign qualified.
WHAT SHOULD GOVT DO:
1) Immediate announcement of Gas royality to concerned tribes.
2) Qouta indentification in gawader port employment.
3) Cheriteria revision for forces induction in balochistan.
4) Judicial commission for the inquiry of murder of these 3 leaders as well as of Akbar khan bugti.
5) School development in balochistan and other basic necessities(water, electricity).
6) Road infrastructure development within a year.
WHAT WE SHOULD DO:
1) People like Dr Irfan should write to newspapers about giving them their rights for peace in the province.
2) Common buzzers should also write to newspapers, e-mails to editors, known journalists, member parliaments(the detaisl can be taken from Parlimanterian website).
3) Propogating it through SMS and e-mails.
4) Direct letters can be written to Presidency and PM house with due respect.
5) LETTERS TO CJ
It seems with current roits as we are again on 1971 (khakum ba dahan) so we should play our role by doing what we can do.

where is its summary? :x
Unfortunate really. The Centre has the responsibility to assuage the feelings of Balochis and I see Mr. Zardari there, whose competence we know very well. But then again, who amongst teh best of leaders did anything for them? Who will do it?
burning Balochistan? What do you think other provinces are enjoying heaven breeze? Whole Pakistan is burnging right now.
so if whole pakistan is burnign we should wait? we should work for putting pressure on this regeim. why our "reconciliation" is just based on pardon to corrupt politicians? if we can dilaogue with india, taliban then we should also dialogeu with balochies. they should be given pardon and their rights.
Postman: you are right, teh peopel like ayub, bhutto exploited this province so we should this time target judiciary, politicians like nawaz , munawar hasan, imran etc. Now they should arrange a solidarity march to cover up this gulf.
There are numerous centrifugal forces for balochis to set them selves free, the one strong centripetal force that can keep Pakistan united is the religious tie, Islam.
As muslims all Pakistanis are brothers, brothers are all muslims around the world, this brotherhood has to be floated on national forums. with the weakening of this brotherhood our enemies have been very much successful in exploiting us as separate nations. For that reason Gaza bleeds and for that Afghans are butcherd.
A muslim khilafat is very much inevitable, under the flag of khilafat muslims can claim political unity in the international community.
If thats where you come in, welcome Khalifah !!
Unless muslims learn to accept other faiths and not see them as enemies, they will never be able to reconcile within the different sects of islam. Tolerance is a universal application - if you cannot accept other faiths and just band muslims vs non muslims, you will eventually unband around lines of interpretation of the 1400 year old laws epoused by JAM. Isnt afghanistan or africa a burning example of this ? afghan fighters were united against the soviets, but the same 1400 year old mentality drove them to fight with each other after that war was over. One sect will say that eating 4 times a day is halaal and any other number is haraam...and they will fight over that statement. Where do you see humanity in all this ? or maybe you dont !!!!
befair, Jam is best left alone with his "logic". You will not find many such people in Pakistan following this version of Islamic faith.

That's where I come in, Jam :)
Provincial autonomy is the key. Baluchistan and all other provinces have been demanding that since ever.

Well as per your defination Mianjee Nawaz & Shahbaz becomes political grandsons of Z.A. Bhutto...em interesting
You know what I feel that Shahbaz copy his grand dad's speech style too.
Hay Khalifah, you accuse me of bringing family into discussion.....this whole, bloody country is hijacked by one big family
Plant a tree
kion babar: isnt it true that Mr Zia was taken as army cheif without his seniority? like nawaz took musharaf by bypassing ali quli??? Mr Bhutto had selected a proper tout who betrayed him. Mr Bhutto was brutal about his opponents. just see
*he put modoodi and Sattar niani in jail and they were sentenced to death
*Dr Nazir ahmed who had defeated farooq laghari's father was killed
*Chuhdry zahoo relahi
*Nawab Ahmed raza
*army action against baloches after disolving mehmood achakzai and mufti mehmood's in NWFP
Which family? The country has been hijacked by the army; the 'politicians' be they Nawaz or Zardari, Qazi or Altaf are but an extension of the military. Even when they are in 'power' International policy, domestic policy the armed forces and distribution of national wealth remains firmly in control of the army. The enemy of Pakistan are not really the Taliban or India or even the USA, the true enemy of Pakistan is the Pakistani army. The only answer to Pakistan's problems is a civil war along the lines of the American civil war. Either the federation will rip itself apart or the mutual sacrifice will strengthen the bonds of unity and turn Pakistan into a nation whose citizens will be Pakistanis before they are Punjabi or Sindhi, Balochi or Pathan. Pakistan came into existence without any sacrifice it's time to pay freedoms debt
Or you can grow and empower poor by educating, free speech and economy
Plant a tree
And who is this 'you' that will empower the poor? Do you think the army which is firmly in power will strike at its own power base by educating the poor masses?
You, the people of Pakistan.
You can educate one poor child but NO why should you its ONLY responsibility of government to do so? You can plant a tree and there will be 160 million more trees, if you do so but why should you? Its responsibility of government....what is our responsibility then, we don't pay our taxes for sure.

Why not talk of revolution of Marten Luther King, Gandhi jee and Mandela...the revolution of peace. The revolution of development and awareness.
Plant a tree
They all had a carrot and stick approach, for MLK Black Panthers served as the stick, for Mandela it was Umkhonto we Sizwe (the military arm of ANC) and for Gandhi it was the first and second INA. Turning the other cheek has never gained freedom for anyone, it just lands them on a cross
Yet they all believed in building and not destroying

oy yeh apni intellectual discussion chor ker try to put pressure on sarkar by influencing the opinion leaders....babar is right. provincial autnomy is teh key solution. moreover the mssing people realse and royality case can sort out the major problems.
Everyone knows that provincial autonomy is key but how long does one wait to receive one's right before fighting for it?
I wish if people would have left houses to protest for provincial autonomy instead of putting that judge back to his lucrative job.
How is the Sarkari Umrah going btw?

Befair,
Love for Islam does not equate to hatred for all other religions and similarly an inclination towards religion does not signify a terroristic streak.
When we speak of Islamic glory we speak of the time when science and wisdom was the driving force in the lands of Islam and tolerance for other faiths was abundant. For example, even in India Islamic law or traditions were not imposed on Hindus in fact even those practices (such as suttee) which were abhorrent to Muslim sensitivities were allowed to continue.
It is that culture of progress that people yearn for and THAT yearning signifies a complete rejection of extremism
Khalifah,
I dont understand why you are fixated around Sati. That deplorable practice DOES NOT EXIST anymore whereas today's islam is dominated by intolerance for other faiths and even within itself...again, religion is what is FOLLOWED, not what may or may not be written in books.
And please do not tell me that islam was not imposed on hindus in india. Temples were razed to the ground and hindus were made to pay pilgrimage taxes too. Islamic history in india has been one of forced conversions and violence - but past is past. Just look at today and forward - clean up your house first and for that, no one needs to go running back to the Quran for verses. Irrational thinking is part of islamic CULTURE today and that is what the world sees as islam. Bring a change within today's islamic world...and that includes NOT SUPPORTING FOLKS LIKE THE TALIBAN
Suttee was just an example I used to show that muslims did not interfere with the religious practices of the Hindu's nothing more. It's the easiest example that comes to mind.
Some Hindu's were probably forcibly converted but then that would be against Islamic injunctions so see, it is important to make sure that religion is followed and not culture. Culturally it is probably the norm to be antogonistic to people of other faith RELIGOUSLY it is wrong.
It is the culture we need to change not the religion.
Additionally Indonesia, untill 1400 A.D was purely a Hindu/Bhuddist nation but as successive kings embraced Islam, so did the indigenous population and today it is the largest muslim nation and yet not a single 'Islamic army' set foot on Indonesia's shore. So I am not sure that Islam expands simply by forcing itself on peoples of other faith.
The Taliban and their likes are fighting for worldly causes and they use Islam simply as a recruiting tool; their aim is not the expansion of Islam. Maybe it is for Al Qaeda's twisted logic but it's simply not for the Taliban who see Islam as a means to power
