After Pervez Musharraf
In a recent interview, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has hinted that the next president can be a woman. Why do we have to be gender-centric in the election (not-selection) of the candidate for the office of president? Let the one who is honest, competent and capable (no matter what the gender is) be considered for the job instead of nominating the most obedient yes-man/woman.

He might be making way for his sister, you know, so the gender talk!
You are, of course, very right.
Thats the way pakistani politics go....!
Personally I support female president. Preferably from Balochistan or NWFP.
Plant a tree
There are ways other than this for female emancipation.
I would vote for Justice Rana Bhagwandas. A noble person from minority. The best possible I can think.
..and amend the constitution for that!
"amend the constitution" ....... Do we have one
Yes we do.
Which one, 1956, 1973......how many ammendments.....
1973 constitution. 17 amendments I guess. Uncle Musharraf made exit courtesy the procedure laid under this constitution (and vested interests).
This is the only constiution we have got. Live with it.
Tear the damn thing apart; it hasn't prevented repeated army takeovers despite clearly stating that suspension of the constitution amounts to treason
And do what next?
Why do we need one? Trust me, you won't miss it at all
Tell me the solution bro. What instead?
Since the country was created under the pretext of creating a home land for the muslims, let the Quran be the constitution. Establish laws that do not contravene its injunctions. That is the meaning of a constitution, a framework, within the limits of which all laws must exist
Which is what 1973 constitution is. Is it not?
Not at all.
When I say let the Quran be the constitution I mean just that
For example, the 1973 constitution states. "All existing laws shall be brought in conformity with the injunctions of Islam as laid down in the Holy Quran and sunna ... and no law shall be enacted which is repugnant to such injunctions"
However, Quran allows freedom of choice and practice in religion yet the constitution of Pakistan literally outlaws the Qadiani religion
So basically you are talking about amending the constitution and not Constitution itself. ?
I am too sleepy to think clearly right now Postman; suddenly you have stopped making any sense altogether
Ok take care. You definitely need some.
I think United States doesn't have any constitution. Am I right?
No. It has a constitution. 1787
